Passive (Tainted Lands):

Xel'Ra can buy a Seed of Corruption for 200 gold to create tainted land (starts with one for free). While on tainted land, enemies deal 10% less damage, and Xel'Ra deals 10% more damage, gains 10% additional more movespeed, and regens 10%/20%/30% (1/6/11) of his hp every 3 seconds while out of combat. Additionally, neutral monsters become tainted if they spawn on tainted land revealing any enemy champion that is in combat with them and dealing (20% of the monster's max hp) magic damage over 6 seconds to the killer if they are an enemy champion. Xel'Ra's basic attacks against tainted targets deal magic damage instead of physical, scale off of AP (60%), and can't crit.

Seed of Corruption (consumable) Active: CORRUPTION *Places a Seed of Corruption that is activated for 3 minutes. During that duration, the Seed of Corruption is visible, but taint will slowly spread away from the Seed of Corruption to a maximum of 600/800/1000/1200 (lvs 1/6/11/16) units. Taint will recede over 30 seconds if the source is destroyed. The Seed of Corruption has 5 hp, is invisible, and takes only 1 damage from attacks. Taint cannot be spread in lane and Seed of Corruption gives no vision. *

Q (Devour):

Xel'Ra attempts to devour an enemy, dealing 40/50/60/70/80 (+100% AD)(+50% AP) magic damage and healing Xel'Ra for 10%/20%/30%/40%/50% of the damage dealt if the target was a minion or monster. Devour applies on-hit effects and deals 200% damage to minions and monsters.

Passive: Whenever a unit dies near Xel'Ra, they taint nearby allies.

Active: *Xel'Ra gains a burst of energy, gaining 60% movement speed and 60%/70%/80%/90%/100% attack speed that decays over 3 seconds. During the duration, Xel'Ra's basic attacks taint enemies for 10 seconds. The duration is extended by 1 second whenever Xel'Ra basic attacks, and resets whenever Xel'Ra gets a kill or assist. (max duration: 10 seconds) *

E (Burrow):

Xel'Ra burrows into the ground becoming invisible, undetectable, and untargetable for 6/6.5/7/7.5/8 seconds. During the during the duration, Xel'Ra loses 20% of his movespeed and cannot attack or use spells. He will also leave a trail of dirt as he moves and cannot have increased movement speed during the duration. When the duration ends, Xel'Ra will leap out of the ground dealing 60/70/80/90/100 (+50% AP) magic damage to, knocking up (for 1 second) , and slowing (by 20% for 3 seconds) nearby enemies.

R (Contagion):

(First Cast): Xel'Ra uses already tainted enemies to spread the taint to other enemy champions over 3 seconds. If an enemy champion leaves the spread range (400 units), they will not be tainted. Contagion can be re-cast for 10 seconds.

(Second Cast): The taint consumes the life force of tainted enemies dealing 300/400/500 (+120% AP) magic damage to all tainted enemies.

Passive (Tainted Land): Tainted Land is how Xel'Ra controls the jungle. Taint gives Xel'Ra and his team an advantage in fights and makes it risky for an enemy to even clear their own jungle. It can also be spread quickly later on in the game.

Q (Devour): Devour is Xel'Ra's main jungle clearing tool, applying Madreds/Wriggles/FeralFlare passive and healing Xel'Ra. It also deals formidable burst once Xel'Ra gets a spellblade item and is a basic-attack reset.

W (Metabolic Boost): Metabolic Boost combined with Tainted Land is Xel'Ra's main source of DPS and also can taint multiple enemies, helping to set up his Contagion. However it is not a basic-attack reset.

E (Burrow): Burrow is Xel'Ra's ganking and initiating tool. Although he is nearly invincible, his approach is clearly telegraphed, he is slower, and he can't do anything until the end of Burrow's duration. Burrow can also be used to set up ambushes and juke as it makes him completely undetectable if he isn't moving.

R (Contagion): Contagion allows Xel'Ra to deal massive AoE damage in teamfights when combined with a good Tainted Claw cast keeping usefull later in the game. It can also be used to secure objectives and zone/separate teams.

Early Game:

Xel'Ra is an AP, DpS, jungler that, if given any footing, can gain almost complete control of the jungle and its objectives for his team. Early on, Xel'Ra wants to start spreading taint in his own jungle (if he's playing defensive) or in the enemy's jungle (if he's playing aggressively) and giving advantages to his team. His level 2 base damage combined with red buff is extremely high, allow him to put pressure on the map from the very beginning of the game. He also gets a small powerspike when he gets sheen, if he can get it early.
Be sure to keep a few Seed of Corruptions in your inventory when playing as him, and use any chance you get to spread more taint.
- Teamfights:
- Although most melee carries usually struggle to make an impact in teamfights and are forced to split-push, Xel'Ra can have a huge impact in a fight. His Contagion can both deal huge amounts of AoE damage and Metabolic Boost helps Xel'Ra get around in fights. Xel'Ra can also initiate with Burrow and Zhonyas before he gets bursted.
