Esben, Charitable Moneylender

Who is Esben? Esben is one of the most successful "businessman" on the rift, but his origins aren't necessarily ordinary. Esben is a pig-like Vastaya, which may explain his career choice, who effectively abandoned Ionia and his Vastayan brethren. To Esben, ties of blood are of no importance. Now, Esben is the head of one of the most successful clans in Piltover, and also has several ties to key figures in Zaun. Many great projects have received funding from this most charitable figure.

Class: Unique Playstyle

KIT:

Passive: Propogating Coins

When units die around you, they sometimes leave a Propagating Coin. Propagating Coins last 20-60 seconds (based on level). Cannon minions and champions always leave Propagating Coins. Esben can walk over Propagating Coins to pick them up, granting +1 Gold.

When Esben picks up a Propagating Coin, +15/30/45 Gold and a shield that absorbs up to 30-165 Magic Damage (based on level) that decays over 5 seconds. Cooldown: 10 Seconds (Static)

Q – Fling

Active: Esben's next 3 attacks within 10 seconds gain 400 bonus range and leave behind 1 Propagating Coin where they land. The final ranged attack deals +100/120/140/160/180 (+35% AP) bonus Magic Damage.

If his passive is available when he makes the final ranged attack, it deals 140/155/170/185/200% damage. If Esben kills a unit with the final ranged attack, his passive is reset.

Spell Type: Self Buff Mana Cost: 60 Mana + 3 Gold Cooldown: 7 seconds

W – Hush Money

Active: Esben throws a Bag of Coins in a target area. The closest enemy champion within range who can see the Bag of Coins is charmed toward the Bag of Coins. If the charmed champion is damaged or picks up the Bag of Coins, the charm ends.

If a champion touches the Bag of Coins, they pick it up, having damage dealt to them and gaining +40/45/50/55/60 Gold.

Bags of Coins lasts up to 6 seconds, before disappearing and granting Esben the Gold he used to cast this ability.

(If Esben has an insufficient amount of Gold, he cannot cast this ability.)

Spell Type: AoE Range: 600/400 Damage: 100/120/140/160/180 (+10% AP) (+10% Opponent's Maximum Health) Cost: 40/45/50/55/60 Mana and 40/45/50/55/60 Gold Cooldown: 14/13.5/13/12.5/12 seconds

E – Selfish Habits

Passive: When you pick up a Propagating Coin, Restore 5/6/7/8/9 Health and Mana.

In addition, you gain +15/20/25/30/35 Movement Speed towards Propagating Coins. When Esben picks up a Propagating Coin, he gains +60/65/70/75/80% Movement Speed away from enemy champions that decays over 2.5 seconds.

Spell Type: Passive

R – A Most Generous Donation

Active: Esben targets an ally champion, then channels for 0.75 seconds. Upon completing the channel, this champion gives 300/800/1300 Gold to the targeted ally champion.

Can only be used out of Combat. Cannot be cast if Esben has insufficient Gold.

Spell Type: Targeted Range: 300 Cost: No Cost Cooldown: 90 seconds

WHAT DOES ESBEN DO?

Esben is an attempt at a new playstyle which revolves around his Propagating Coins, which in turn means his kit revolves around Gold. His main strengths revolve around setting up picks, (E) helping teammates stay ahead (R), and a relatively safe laning phase (Q & E). This next section is in depth kit discussion, so if you already know what you think, this is the end of the post for you. If you do or do not continue reading, please, let me know what you think in the comments!

  • Passive: A passive which occasionally leaves something that can be picked up when units die, like Thresh. Propagating Coins grant bonus gold along with some temporary MR.

  • Q: This is a temporary auto attack range increase (Esben would be melee) that drop Propogating Coins where autos land. In addition, the final ranged auto deals bonus damage, with even more bonus damage if Esben's passive is off of cooldown. Nice combo of poke/safe farming.

  • W: A literal "bait" ability. It costs Gold along with the mana cost, so using it at the right time is important, unless you want to waste Gold. It charms the closest enemy champion towards the bag, and the charm breaks if they are damaged or they pick up the bag. Make sure you have follow up properly, or else you are giving the enemy champ free Gold.

  • E: This additional passive provides the "selfish pig" thematic, who desperately forages for coins, running away from enemies once picking them up, and restoring Health and Mana for each coin he picks up.

  • R: The ability that ties together his kit. With all this bonus Gold, and not necessarily being very item reliant, Esben can help those who fall behind, or help those ahead continue to snowball. Note he can't use it in combat, and he can only use it once a minute. Also grants some bonus permanent MR.

WHAT TO BUILD?

  • Runes: Most likely Gold per Second Quints/Yellows, Armor or AD Reds, and Blues can be pretty much anything.

  • Masteries: Investments into Bandit would be the most beneficial for Esben. Otherwise, subject to interpretation.

  • Items: item 3057 and its variations could be very useful on Esben, along with item 3145 and the item 3301 line, which grants item 2011.

This is an attempt at a new playstyle, so any thoughts/critiques comments would be very appreciated! :)

I really enjoy this concept, it feels fun, light-hearted, and all-around interesting. Minor critiques though. I feel like the q has a bit too strong of scaling (if the Passive is up, it deals 70% AP damage). While the scaling is not ridiculous, I feel like it should be toned down just a smidge (something like scaling up as the game goes on? 25/26.25/27.5/28.75/30% AP maybe?). Also, I feel like the passive should either have a higher cooldown or give less gold (not both though) simply because 16-46 Gold every 5 seconds is a little bit strong for a champion that has the scaling to build AP. Once again, these are not major issues, just things that I feel could balance out an AMAZINGLY fun concept.

Keep up the good work :) [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

i think he should use his gold a a resource in more of his skills, with that you could add more gold generation and restoration on "successful" hits :) his passive looks great~ Q --- when his passive is up for the 3rd strike, instead of extra damage, why not add a gold generating buff on kill?(+10% earned gold for 5 sec to you and nearby allies, range 800) more support~<3

W --- wonderful ability~ maybe make the needed gold scale of AP to make it less spammy late game?(base 10G or 15G+15% or 20%AP perhaps?)

E --- no max health buff please :o its just...strange on this character...feels wrong... also change the "away from enemies" speed buff to 40/50/60/70/80% for 2.5 sec maybe? help with escapes

R --- cool, but...needs more...oomf!...why not try this~ when you target an allied champ, you channel for 2 sec, afterwards you give them 500/650/800 gold and cause an AOE around them(range 500) dealing (25%gold before cast+10%AP) magic damage and charming them for 1 sec towards the champ. when you target and enemy champ the same effect applies, but you give them no gold and instead deal (40%gold before cast+25%AP) with a range of 750, the same charm effect applies here~(bonus: on kill, give the slain champ +1 gold if they were killed by this ability)

of course this is AAAALLLL opinion and just what I would do, no need to use even 1 bit of info here if you dont want :) id love to see a champ like this~ watch him and kenchTahmKench run around bot together hehehe~
