Name: Avernus, the Scion of Darkness Faction: Noxus (Exiled Ionian) Attack: 2 Defense: 3 Ability: 8 Difficulty: 8 Attributes: Support (Primary), Mage (Secondary)

Overview Avernus is a potent support focused on strong pushing power and buffing/debuffing critical targets, as well as always having options available, albeit at a cost. Though he lacks innate sustain or damage, he makes up for it with his teamfighting potential and incredible pushing power, especially late game when he has multiple Dread Servants to assist him. However, he pays for this strength with relatively poor CC, as well as poor burst potential for a mage. Taken mid-lane, Avernus holds the line, adept at keeping opponents from roaming, and taken bot-lane Avernus grants incredible trading potential but requires follow-up by teammates to make the most of his impressive buffing/debuffing capabilities early game.

Appearance Avernus is a tall, frail looking man entirely concealed by black clothes. His long trench coat covers most of his body, from its large hood down to his legs. Black pants, boots, and gloves conceal the rest of his body, and his face is hidden behind a white mask with black eyes and swirling marks around it. Similar marks are etched in silver along his clothes, with short silver chains trailing around them as well. Avernus's voice carries a faint reverberation through it, as though something far greater is speaking through him.

Base Stats

  • Health: 380 (+80)
  • Health Regen: 5.5 (+0.65)
  • Mana: 220 (+50)
  • Mana Regen: 7.1 (+0.7)
  • Attack Damage: 49 (+3)
  • Attack Speed: 0.625 (+2%)
  • Attack Range: 550
  • Armor: 20 (+3.25)
  • Magic Resist: 30 (+0)
  • Movement Speed: 335

Abilities

  • Passive - Blood Covenant

  • Avernus can cast spells even when low on Mana, using Health to cover the difference. Spells that require Health to cast are outlined in Red but still fully highlighted. Like other Health based casters, Avernus can't kill himself casting spells, but can be reduced to a minimum of 1 Health.

  • Additionally, Avernus can cast spells even while on cooldown. Doing so costs additional Health equal to the spell's base Mana cost, which is added to any other Health costs incurred by low Mana. Spells that can be cast with Blood Covenant have a special blood-red tinged icon. This effect has a static 20 second cooldown.

  • Q - Shadow Lance

  • Active - Avernus fires a bolt of darkness in the line that deals 60/105/150/195/240 (+60% AP) magic damage to enemies it passes through. Enemies hit send out a nova of shadow that deals 40/70/100/130/160 (+40% AP) magic damage to other enemies nearby them. Enemies can only be damaged once per shot.

  • Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 Mana

  • Cooldown: 8/7/6/5/4 Seconds

  • Range: 1000

  • Projectile Width: 60

  • Nova Radius: 225

  • W - Mark of the Abyss

  • Active - Avernus summons a circle of dark energies that collapses after a short delay, dealing 50/80/110/140/170 (+40% AP) magic damage to enemies caught in it and marking them for 3 seconds. An allied champion dealing attack or spell damage consumes the mark, dealing 50/80/110/140/170 (+40% AP) bonus magic damage and slowed by 40/45/50/55/60% for 2 seconds, with the slow decaying over its duration. This damage applies Avernus's spell effects and treats him as the source.

  • Cost: 80/85/90/95/100 Mana

  • Cooldown: 18.0/16.5/15.0/13.5/12.0 Seconds

  • Range: 800

  • Radius: 300

  • E - Dark Pact

  • Active ( Ally Cast ) - Avernus grants an allied Champion or Dread Servant a profane boon, granting them 20/30/40/50/60% bonus Attack Speed and 8/11/14/17/20% (+2.5% per 100 AP) bonus Lifesteal and Spellvamp for 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5/5.0 seconds.

  • Active ( Enemy Cast ) - Avernus curses an enemy Champion with a debilitating curse, reducing the damage they deal and increasing the damage they take by 8/11/14/17/20% (+2.5% per 100 AP) and applying Grievous Wounds, reducing their incoming Healing by 50%. This curse lasts for 3.0/3.5/4.0/4.5/5.0 Seconds.

  • Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 Mana

  • Cooldown: 10 Seconds

  • Range: 600

  • Ultimate - Dread Servants

  • Passive - Avernus passively summons and controls up to 1/2/3 Dread Servants. Dread Servants are revived one at a time 40/30/20 seconds after their demise. Dread Servants can be manually commanded with the Ult key, but otherwise can act independently, prioritizing enemies that attack Avernus or other allied champions. Unlike other pets, Dread Servants apply spell effects with their attacks (which deal magic damage), albeit as damage-over-time, multi-target spells. When targeted by Dark Pact, Dread Servants gain 50% damage resistance, deal 20% increased damage, and apply spell effects as single target, non-periodic damaging spells instead. The Spellvamp from Dark Pact heals Avernus as well.

Dread Servants

  • Health: 150/225/300 (+30/35/40 per level) (+20% bonus Health)
  • Health Regen: (5% Max Health per Second)
  • Magic Damage 20 (+5 per level) (+20% AP)
  • Attack Speed: 0.695
  • Attack Range: 125
  • Armor: 30/45/60 (+10% AP)
  • Magic Resist: 30/45/60 (+10% AP)
  • Movement Speed 365/375/385 (+100% Bonus Movement Speed)

This is awesome. I might try to sketch him if you don't mind.

awesome concept, kind of like a health-based Vladimir? one thing that could be added to his passive is that could be an additional reward for using your passive to cast abilities (using passive for abilities does more dmg or gives added effects). also, this champion does not appear to have any hard CC (unless I am mistaken), and would probably be taken to the top or mid lane at the earliest opportunity. Here is my recommendation: Change his ultimate to his passive (with longer cooldowns and less power) and change his passive to his W, as a passive ability (like vayne w), with buffs to the passive (Avernus can cast spells while low on mana, at the cost of 150/125/100/75/50% of the mana cost that he would have otherwise spent. Take away the "can use abilities that are on cooldown", as that might be slightly overpowered. Reinvent his ultimate as an AOE hard CC, something in between Brand W, Morgana W, and Morgana Q, such as: Avernus channels for 2.5 seconds to create a giant pool of soul essence. While standing in the pool, enemies are afflicted with stacks of Abyss every .75/.625/.5 seconds. For every stack of Abyss that the enemies were afflicted with during the channel, they are stunned for .5 seconds and take 50/75/100 + (60% AP) + (2% Health) AOE dmg, which can affect enemy minions and champions near them This is just one idea, but I feel that he might be a little bit better with hard CC Thanks!

Does the Q really need the % Max HP component?

  • Relatively cheap mana-wise.
  • AoE potential.
  • Scaling % Max HP damage.
  • A small slow.
  • Moderate cooldown.

It could just be my faulty intuition at work, but the skill feels a tad bloated. Especially with the amount of utility the rest of his kit has.

I feel like, if he wants % HP damage, he should have to buy a Liandry's like Zyra does. His W seems great for proccing Liandry's burn. especially if you can also land a Q in there.

Awesome design, though. I approve of it.

For the look, he seems kind of like a black version of vlad but without the icecream hair (thank god) maybe take away the gloves. since his auto attacks will be purple flames, bring that into the hands (kind of a princess mononoke style but more veiny and twisted) and when his passive kicks in, the color in his hands can become more intense to show that hes using his hp but yea, just seems to be too much black feel like it could get muddy other then that, i would so play him
