New Mechanic Idea: Marking

Was curious what other people thought about this. What if there was a bounty-hunter champion that could "Mark" opponents anywhere on the map. The mark wouldn't do anything, but would basically be a "you're next" mechanic. It might allow the champion to ult that person, do more damage, or get more gold if they kill them.

The mark could reset every time the champion dies and/or it times out. It could also possibly give the person marked more gold if they kill the bounty-hunter instead.

Personally I think it would be a fun idea for both sides since you know they are going to go after you and because of it you can play accordingly and possibly get a little bonus if you survive.

P.S. The champion could be a jungle champ which would allow for optimal marks. You see the mark go over your head in lane and can go, "Oh crap! He is coming after me, better play passive,"

Why would it get used at any time other than right before securing the kill?

Creative idea though. If the mark was assigned randomly it might be cool. Even a game mode where every 2 minutes a new player was marked and killing someone while marked gave extra rewards.

The concept is good, but there's two main issues that I can think of from what you described. There would have to be some reason or need to mark a player a bit before a kill, otherwise you could just mark them right before they die for the easy bonus. The other issue is that marking someone and them playing cautiously would be unhelpful to the person who placed the mark. If I was marked, I'd keep my lane warded constantly and I'd be cautious. A gank should be undetected and the enemy shouldn't be expecting it.

It's actually a cool concept. We almost have something like this in the way of shutdown gold.

If this were a system for some sort of bounty hunter champion, than it would have to be that champions are methodically marked without your control. Instead of getting gold for creeps or monsters, the bounty hunter would hunt champions for inordinate amounts of money.
