Medendus, The Shadow Support

Aegrescit medendo: the cure is worse than the disease. I thought him up from the Latin phrase above which inspired his Q spell and the rest kind of just fell into place in my mind. For me he gives the classic support feel while also not having as big of a problem that some supports have where if your carry dies, the support can be relatively useless.

For in game, He would be classified as an Enchanter and sometimes a Juggernaut. He'd be a melee support that relies on debuffing enemies and buffing allies. He wants his teammates to just go in and go ham while using his spells to curve the fight in their favor, but only if his teammates keep committing. If they happen to die, then he becomes the carry, that is if the enemy team hasn't already taken care of him. Most of the time he will do very little damage relying on allies to dish out the pain, but like a Juggernaut, in very specific scenarios he can deal some heavy damage.

Passive:
Whenever a teammate dies near Medendus he is so overtaken with grief and guilt that his Shadow magic consumes him, transforming him into a shadow beast until he dies or exits combat. Transformation cleanses all CC active on him at the time of transformation. He loses access to all four spells (although spells activated prior to transformation will still be in effect) and has largely increased stats scaling off of skill points put into ultimate. Also for every additional ally that dies nearby after he has already transformed, he gets a very short burst of movement speed and attack speed.

Explanation: Basically this passive is a Sion passive with some Jinx passive mixed in that only activates when allies die. With this passive it kind of creates the Soraka syndrome where you have to kill the soraka first in a team fight to make it easier; if you disrespect or ignore him just because he isn't dealing out loads of damage or CC, you will regret it.

Q: Medendus attempts to heal the enemy champion but it doesn't quite work out. A targeted spell that applies a mark to the enemy champion target. After a delay the mark activates and deals a small flat amount of damage plus however much health the target has healed/regained from any source since the mark was applied.

Explanation: This spell would start at doing a flat like 3% of max health and have the mark be applied for about 1 second and at max rank scale up to like 5% max health and have the mark stay for 3 seconds. I recognize that it hard counters healers, a.k.a. soraka, but it still offers some meaningful decision making while playing against and overall could add a neat aspect that the game currently doesn't have.

W: Medendus throws out shadow magic in a targeted area in from of him that lightly damages and coats all enemies hit for a short duration. Allies are shielded for a portion of the damage they deal to targets that were hit with this spell. Cap of shield amount from minions and non-epic monsters. Medendus gets shielded for a smaller portion than allies do based on the damage he does.

Explanation: Think Yorick's Morning Mist attack (his E). Basically the same spell with a different area shape and different effect. He still gets the shield with the damage he does but at a smaller portion than allies to allow him to solo lane but not be super oppressive in said solo lane. Ranking up would decrease cooldown and increase percentage of damage done turned into a shield.

E: Medendus creates a tether on a target enemy champion doing small DOT while tethered, stealing movement speed from them and giving the stolen movement speed to a targeted ally. The longer the target remains tethered the longer the duration the ally has of the movement speed buff. If the spell is not reactivated to target an ally, Medendus gets half of the movement speed buff himself.

Explanation: It's a double cast spell, the first cast creates the tether to the enemy champion instantly slowing them and giving Medendus a percentage of the stolen speed. The second cast creates a second tether to an ally champion transferring the stolen movement speed to them. Again, he gets a smaller portion than allies do so he isn't super oppressive in a solo lane if picked there. Ranking up would decrease cooldown and increase the speed stolen (which subsequently increases speed given to Medendus or allies.)

R: Medendus transfers his shadow magic to targeted ally champion for a short duration cleansing them of CC at time of activation and giving them increased stats just like his passive, except they can use spells during duration. Medendus can self cast this spell on himself to immediately activate his passive but only for the same duration that an ally would get the buff if spell was used on them. Also, self casting additionally will put his passive on cooldown for a short duration (like 20 seconds or something maybe). Skill points put into the ultimate also rank up stat increase while in passive form.

Explanation: Basically on ally cast it is just an Anna ult from the game Overwatch. Ranking up decreases cooldown, increase duration, and increases stat increase for passive and Ult. By putting his passive on cooldown with self casts it gives him the choice to either have a short duration without being gated by an ally dying or have a potential longer duration if an ally is picked off, basically again to stop him from being oppressive in a solo lane.

Items In my opinion these would be his main items if he plays his intended role as support and then build tanky dependent on situation. -Talisman of Ascension -Righteous Glory -Mikael's Crucible

Side note: He would also take the new Keystone: Stoneborn Pact that goes very well with his E.

Other Champions Good allies: Kled, Karthus, and Sivir. Kled and Sivir are all about just going into the fight and Karthus tends to not care as much if he dies in a fight. Good counterpicks: anyone with multiple hard CC and not a big focus on heals. Leona, Nautilus, Blitz. etc...

Thanks for reading :)
