Yorick is very overlooked, basically remained the same since he came out, and doesn't get invited to any of the events for new skins

Yorick is actually insanely good. I've seen him kick the shit out of a Gangplank before.

He'll get a Sion-Level rework or so by the end of next year, or at least that is Riot's current goal.

They've been working on a Yorick rework for a very long time now. It's gone through atleast 8 version, still haven't figured out how they want to finish him. You can check the progress on the lol wiki. It's actually really cool reading up about it.

They're ignoring Yorick because they he is anti-fun. He can just spam E and W every few seconds. In addition, E heals him and you can't really get close to him with his W slowing you. If you can close they gap, you have to deal with him and his ghouls, which empower him, or he can run away with his Q. If you all in him, he can ult himself, further increasing his damage, and if he dies he will have 10 seconds to takes revenge. He makes the laning phase a living hell. Finally, he can use the revenant to take turret fire, and can also ult his teams ADC, giving them 2 ADCs for a little while, or at least giving the ADC 10 more seconds to kill enemies.

Thankfully, he is being reworked, but it will be a while before it comes out. This is also why he is not on the weekly free champion rotation, like Poppy.
