Gelenk, Master of Strings

InfernoFøx·11/30/2018, 6:44:14 AM·1 votes·1,107 views

So a friend of mine and I worked on a champion together, and we were really proud of the results! So why not share this with the rest of the league community! Nothing makes me more happier than a custom champion being recognized. So maybe a Rioter will take inspiration from this or at least look at this! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Little side note, sorry if the lore feels a bit off. I wanted to add something to make him feel like a real champion, so i added in things that could enhance the feeling. Other then that:

#A bit about Gelenk

Gelenk is a young man who we know little about. He's still a kid, but shrouded in mystery using his homemade gauntlet to control the magically enhanced strings. He is controlling but, focuses more on buffing and protecting. But when problems occur, he can fend for himself with his contraptions and use of the strings which he mastered. He is a good team fighter being able to help focus down enemies. If you play Gelenk correctly you feel like you can control the battle with every string you use.

#Lore

Out on a hill in Taluf, Gelenk picked up his rusty binoculars. He looks through the fields of crops, grass, and trees magnified, finding his target: a carriage carrying a noble from Piltover and something of value. Gelenk though, is only interested in the item.

"For once, Jabe got his intel right"

He put away the binoculars into his dirty pouch, popped his hood up and covered his face with a tattered scarf. His narrow pupils focus on the sparkling carriage. He waited a few minutes for the right moment. He pounced in pursuit once it disappeared into the untouched forest, which He knows like the back of his hand.

He rushed towards a spot high in the trees where he set up his ghetto trap. It was only a matter of time. He watched the cart inch to the trap and he pulls the string. Poison darts sprang from the trees which shredded the carriage. The once mobile horse laid on the ground after the assault, dead.

He sees a Noble step out of the cart to inspect the horse. He saw his opportunity and sneakily grabbed some rope, tying it together, jumping down. The noble noticed him, but it was too late. 4 times around already, He wrapped up the noble with cat-like reflexes, puncturing his neck with a sleeping needle, watching him fall asleep as he ties him to the closest tree.

"Perfectly executed"

He said with confident smile. He looked into the carriage to obtain the expensive treasure and found just a spool of string. He looked at it and smelled it cock-eyed.

"M-magic? This far away from Piltover? Hmm, seems like Jade got one thing wrong. They could have been trading with locals but I doubt it. I wonder what this stuff is for?"

He picked up the spool and a little bit of string fell down and touched the horse. While he was still looking at the spool, He feels the ground shaking, he looks to find the horse standing up.

" How is this possib-"

He looked at the string. And noticed that it's attached to the horse. He started to wave the spool around and it started to control the movements of the dead horse. He let out a hysterical laugh and headed home.

A few hours later, he went to his shack and created a gauntlet to house the spool having the string split into 5 for each finger. This made him wants to try it out on something more, alive, which gives him an idea.

"Hey Jabe, can I try something out? I found something in that carriage and it seemed interesting."

The unexpected request confused Jabe but he agrees. Gelenk pulled out his hand that was tucked behind his back and attached the strings to his partner in crime. Almost as if on queue, he remembered the little puppet his father used to play with him. He smiled out of happiness. He starts making Jabe do jumps and sits before finally releasing him.

Jabe looked at is friend concerned. But Gelenk looked in awe as he found out he can do more with alive targets. He took off the strings and walked away back to that tiny shack, not saying a word. Jabe stared at him as he walked away.

The thief looked at the puppet sitting on a shelf in his shack that was his father's and smiled. He put the gauntlet next to it and all of the other prizes he stole; but picked the gauntlet back up. He slipped it on and walked outside. Out into the countryside, wanting to see what else he could do with this new power.

Health Regen: 5.43 (+.59 per level)

Mana: 400 (+35 per level)

Mana Regen: 3.69 (+.83 per level)

Range: 300

Attack Damage: 55 (+2.5 per level)

Attack Speed: .603 (+2.5% per level)

Armor: 35 (+1.5 per level)

MR: 22 (+1 per level)

Movement Speed: 330

#Abilities:

##Passive (Bond of Strings):

Gelenk attaches strings to any ally champion he chooses which then gives Gelenk bonus Armor (10/15/20/25/30) and MR (5/10/15/20/25) based off levels (1/5/9/12/16). The linked ally obtains (3/6/9/12/16) Armor and (4/6/8/12/14) MR based off of Gelenk's levels mentioned above will a range of 1400 units.

When not linked, Gelenk gains base movement speed (20% at all ranks) and base AD of 30 after reaching level 6.

If Gelenk walks out of the passive range, the string snaps, making him wait 2 minutes to reattach it to the same ally, but 15 seconds for a different ally. (Does not remove the duration on snapped string ally once switched to a different ally)

##Q (Puppeteer):

Cost: 16/20/24/28/32 mana (per string)

CD: 16/15/14/13/12s

Range: 550

[Passive]:

If Q'd ally is also linked (via Bond of Strings), auto attacks stack up to 5 times. At the 5th stack, the enemy will be rooted for .75s (20 second CD). If an enemy is slowed by Tripwire, Gelenk and his ally, who are linked both ways, will get a surge of movement speed towards the slowed enemy (35%) for 1 second.

[Active]:

Gelenk can have up to (3/4/5/6/7) strings. Each form of ally consumes a different amount of strings. 1 string for small minions, 2 for cannon and super minions, and 3 for allies and enemies

Gelenk can connect his strings to any ally and empower his and his allies autos, dealing (20% at all ranks) of his own bonus AD as bonus magic damage for (5 seconds at all ranks)

(80/85/90/95/100%) of minions damage is dealt as bonus magic damage as well as doubling link duration. (Damage does not apply on turrets)

You can attach 3 strings to an enemy dealing (40/80/120/160/200)(+55% AD) to mark them, granting healing (10/20/30/40/50) per auto for 5 seconds. When activated on the enemy, only Gelenk gains the healing.

When Gelenk is damaged, he commands linked minions to attack the damage dealer.

##W (Tripwire):

Cost: 50/60/70/80/90

CD: 40/35/30/25/20s (per charge)

Range: 950

Gelenk can chose any part of terrain and place one end of wire on that end. He can then, attach the other side to a different terrain. The wire is invisible and slows any champion that walks through it for 3 seconds (40% at all ranks). Gelenk can create (1/1/2/2/3) wires at a time. Lasting for 150 seconds

Destroying one side of the wire will remove it. Can be seen by sweeper, oracle, pink ward, etc.

##E (Strength of String):

Cost: 60/65/70/75/80

CD: 15/14/13/12/11s

Range: 700

Gelenk pulls in all of his strings from his Q and Shields himself and his linked ally (via Bond of Strings) for (50/100/150/200/250)(+6% of max hp) for 4 seconds.

##R (Puppeteer's Control):

Cost: 100 at all ranks

CD: 150/120/90

Range: 600

Gelenk throws out 7 empowered strings in a cone or 10 in an AoE (if held down for 1.5 seconds [can move around while charging]). When an enemy is connected with the strings, dealing (150/250/300)(+60% AP)(+40% AD) damage, and attaching to them for 5 seconds.

If an enemy is attached by more than one string, the ult's damage goes up by 15%. After 5 seconds of being connected (can disconnect by leaving the effective range), any enemy with a string is slowed (60% [80% for more than one string]) for 1 second.

#Gameplay

Gelenk is support that focuses on buffing his ally and small but noticeable CC. He has a unique style of changing the tides of laning phase by incorporating the use of minions at your own will as well as buffing your ADC.

##Early Game:

Gelenk has a very strong early game. Think about when you can fight. A typical fight will involve Gelenk and his adc to push out a lane to gain an advantage. Any time the enemy wants to engage, minions and his ally will deal bonus damage making trading a lot easier. Not to mention the gank resistance he gains from his W.

In the Top side however, using only minions is your best friend. This allows Gelenk to zone the enemy top laner without being vulnerable to ganks. As well as support, using W in choke points is a big advantage in lane knowing that you have a slow if they try to gank.

##Mid Game:

This is where it makes or breaks a good Gelenk. Gelenk is very good at buffing an ally as an actual support or a secondary support top side. Gelenk has good team fighting capabilities, so he shouldnt be seen split pushing often.

Gelenk is also very good at objective control, setting up tripwires at choke points and setting for a catch. His team fight is strong because of his ult. It's important to know when he should use his cone or AoE version. Sometimes it calls for a lot of damage on one tank to burst down or a spread out fight means they all will take the damage.

##Late Game:

Late game is somewhat hard for Gelenk due to the fact that his more supportive kit makes him weak to most top laners. As a support however, he should be with his linked ally at all times and setting up tripwires along the way. Because he does not have a dash, he can be easily caught out.

Other than that, his damage could be pretty high depending on what he builds but he is not the best at dueling. Split pushing late game can be bad for Gelenk and isn't advised. His team fight does scale with his ally making sure they can deal consistent damage with the Q link throughout the game without it being overbearing.

That does it for this champion concept! I really hope you guys liked it as much as I do!

Questions about Gelenk???

Comment your question and I will try my best to answer it!!

Again I really hope you all liked it and as always, stay toasty!

Hello, Fellow Concept creator

Just a few notes.

Passive; A really weird mechanic. Is it like a Kalista Spear Item that you have to consume the designated item to link or does it go through your Q. I am unsure of this.

W; I might've missed this but, how many of this tripwires can be placed down, or is it just a single one that will disappear if a second one is placed?
