Tips to Rank up With not the Best Mechanics? (Rioter's Opinions too?)

Hey all,

After studying league as a game and how I reviewed my gameplay of league, I realized that i'm not the best mechanically (which is a major factor to the game). But, I know that there is more to the game than just mechanics. From what I can tell there are 5 aspects of the game that everyone has. These are: Mechanic, Tactical, Basic Knowledge, Attitude, and Enjoyment. These 5 factors that I have studied has a major influence on how a person plays the game. As only a S5 (this season)(was s2 in Season 4 and didn't play much ranked in Season 5), I have noticed that yes, my mechanics are not the best. But I have perceived that I am a very good tactician and shot caller. I also have a good amount of knowledge about builds, timers, damage capabilities, etc. I keep a positive attitude and of course I love the game. As a lower MMR player, I probably have put way too much thought into this game. But I really want to become a better player.

I can play every lane but Support. I believe that is fairly ironic because that is something a good amount of supports should be able to do and do well. With that being said I do have my own mains and I do know how their kits work very well (I main Top(Yasuo, Gnar, Maokai, Jax, Irelia) and ADC(Cait, Lucian, Draven, Ez, Varus and Vayne). But sometimes I cant just "outplay" and make the most out of a situation. What I can do very well though, is analyze the battlefield, suggest counter-play, what to prioritize, and other things like that. For a very low MMR player (I agree i'm not the best) I wasn't sure if there was a way to use this to my advantage and have teamm8s try to understand and follow my lead. I understand that this is a huge team game and that in order to win, there needs to be some form of cooperation. That is why i'm asking this. To all of you higher MMR players who are like me, how can I use this to my advantage and make me a better player? Also, can I use my skills as a shot caller and tactician to get better at my mechanics? I am up for all suggestions!

Like most people who play this game, I want to get better. I try my best to not let teamm8s and other players get to me when i have a bad game. It makes me chuckle when people yell at me to "uninstall" or "kys". I am trying to use my positive behavior to also help me be a better league player and a better person overall. So like I said before, any suggestions would be amazing! Also, I am fine with constructive criticism so please, as fellow league players, help me climb the ranks to better myself as a person (how to stay a calm) as well as better my mechanics and to become a better tactician. Thank you all so much :)

Best of luck to all of you in Ranked!

The best thing I can tell you is to not die. It is much better for you to be safer and not die than to go for risky plays and possibly die. If you're alive, you can farm, if you can farm, you can push, if you can push, you can pressure objectives, if you can pressure objectives you can split the enemy team's focus, if you can split the enemy team's focus, you can force uneven fights, if you can force uneven fights and so on and so on.

Main point, being alive is much better for your team than being dead

If you're good at reading the map but not so hot at dealing with up-close-and-personal duels, then pick up Xerath

Long range abilities (the ult in particular) means you can more easily assist allies who might be out of position. Your "outplay" potential is really just run away from anyone that jumps on your face. You can stall out games that are going poorly, letting your team get back in the game too.

If you can position correctly, and farm well, you'll do fine on Xerath.
