Ronen the Soul Thief (Assassin)

Lore

I was among those who laid siege to Mordekaiser’s mighty fortress, and through all the chaos that roared around me I could see clearly. He had to be stopped once and for all. I slipped past everyone, everything, and it all seemed too easy. I snaked through the Immortal Bastion and finally found where Mordekaiser kept his remains, kept his one downfall. I spirited a single bone away, his skull, and took it to the one place I knew he would never find it;or so I thought. I sailed back to the Blessed Isles, my home, Mordekaiser’s skull in hand. The guardians hurried me to the vault where its keeper waited almost too eager to add it to the collection. Thresh, hand picked to guard the dangerous and corrupted artifacts that set inside the vault, and me, a being to be worked like a dog, to play ‘fetch the artifacts’ for an order obsessed with knowledge. One day a woman by the name of Kalista stood on our shores, sent out across the world to find a way to save her King’s dying wife. They deemed her intentions pure and she was given permission to return with the king’s wife. They knew ways to keep death at bay, and simply refusing it to any they deemed unworthy of their gift. When she returned something was wrong, her king stood emanating darkness of a madman. He was denied our help, and flew into a rage that roared like thunder. He ordered Kalista to kill our leader, but she refused. She didn’t deserve to die, betrayed as she was. Factions fought against the other and my people stood no chance against the King’s men. Very few of us were trained to fight, even fewer self-taught. They laid waste to my people, and I ran. I ran to the one place I knew the King would seek to find his answers, the vault. Thresh was inside, his lanterns glow making his features appear nearly skeletal, gaunt, hollow. He had no knowledge of what was happening above us, glaring at me like it was all my fault, that I had led them to the vault. Thresh left, determination on his face. I followed him, unsure of what he thought he could do against them. My people were slaughtered, all of them outside the Citadel's protection, slaughtered like sheep. I slipped away as Thresh met this king. I couldn’t hear what words were exchanged, but Thresh led him down into the vault. A pit of betrayal set in my stomach. I stayed on the island out of sight of the king’s men. Learning to use that magic around me to conceal myself, to protect myself from harm. It seemed like an eternity before the island was destroyed and darkness took over. I managed to keep from its corruption, the last surviving blood of my people. I had to leave, but something called to me through the black mist. Voices of my people calling out to me to save them. I partially dispersed my protection unknowingly attracting unwanted attention, but my people’s souls found a safe haven. I could save them and take them from this dark place. I was weak, and the evil that stained our lands ran deep making it hard for me to keep myself hidden once more. Thresh had found me, his appearance warped and corrupted. A great wraith stood before me with a wicked grin upon his skull like face. His lantern gave off an odd green glow, and I could feel it pulling at the souls that resided inside me. He held a hooked blade in one hand, his lantern in the other. Chains snaked over me and dug into my flesh. The lantern’s cull tore at me tenfold, chains tearing at my people’s souls, at my own. I tried with all my strength to resist, but I couldn’t. I could feel my soul pulling away from my being. The light shining brighter the more I suffered. It’s light burned like a thousand fires, but I tore free from its grasp. I cannot say how I escaped him, but since then something was missing. My gauntlet had been melted, fused with the skin beneath it. The right side of my face burned from the flash of bright green light. I left the Shadow Isle and found refuge in the Howling Marshes, a place teeming with magic. The voices of my people drove me to near madness, begging me to return home to save the rest of our people. I know I would die if I returned, but I realized I could save souls from the lantern’s grasp. I roamed Runeterra, keeping souls from Thresh’s torture, saving them. Then one day a voice called out to me, a woman. Her voice distant, full of what little hope there was to have, and I could feel the burn of the lantern deep inside me. I hadn’t escaped Thresh unscathed. A part of my soul resided inside his lantern, his first soul. I soon learned Thresh could hunt me by using my soul to find what was left that had escaped him. I couldn’t do this alone, I had to find him. I had to find Lucian.

“I could touch the light of the lantern and free souls, but I would lose a part of my own in the process.” -Ronen

Bear with me as his lore is really rough. There were a few holes that I filled in with my own ideas and such, but there wasn't much about the Blessed Isle people to be 100% accurate with it. I really like the background between Lucian and Thresh, and thought why can't he have an ally to help him save Senna? This is a complete rework of a previous champion, the art is completely redone, and his abilities are completely redone.

This took me three days to finish, and I gave up on trying to fix his shadow lol. Any thoughts, comments, and or ideas for changes are greatly appreciated. Even the bad ones :P

This is really cool and stuff, but I feel like the champion's concept is a bit mix between Vlad, Thresh, and Mordekaiser. It's just a vibe I'm getting
