New Champion: Antithete

I was looking at the forums, and somebody wanted to see a ADC/APC champ, and I thought of this Champion. Antithete would be a male champion with half of his body made of ice and the other half covered in magma/fire. He would have a fireball in one hand and an ice ball in the other.

Antithete would be a unique champion that uses AP and AD items. He would first pick an ability (His Q or his W) to start, and this would determine a lot. If Q was picked, W would be eliminated, and it would not be used for the rest of the match. If W was selected, Q would be eliminated, and it would not be used for the rest of the match. However, his abilities would have 6 slots each to level up.

His Passive would create a shield around Antithete, and it would fill a portion of his Resource Bar if hit by an enemy spell or attack. After hit once, the shield disappears and the shield replenishes every 10 seconds. (I was thinking this passive or this one: After killing a unit with and iceball or fireball, it's cooldown is refreshed, this would help CS)

His Q would depict a fireball. If selected, it would cause his basic attacks to shoot iceballs that use AP as damage. When used, Antithete would conjour a fireball that uses AD (from items) as damage, and it would shoot a skill-shot/target-spell at an enemy, and (like Spell Vamp) it would take a percentage of the damage dealt and fill a red portion of the Resource Bar. Every level, the power and portion of the bar increases. This ability has a short cooldown (8-3 seconds)

His W would depict an iceball. If If selected, it would cause his basic attacks to shoot fireballs that use AD as damage. When used, Antithete would conjour an iceball that uses AP (from items) as damage, and it would shoot a skill-shot/target-spell at an enemy, and (like Spell Vamp) it would take a percentage of the damage dealt and fill a blue portion of the Resource Bar. Every level, the power and portion of the bar increases.

His E would depict a steam cloud. Antithete would use the energy in the Resource Bar, and turn it into steam. This would heal Antithete depending on how much of the resource bar was filled. Upon using this ability, the Resource Bar would be emptied. Every level, the amount of health received increases. This ability has a moderately short cooldown (10 seconds).

His R would depict a ball of Water. This ability would be affected by both AD and AP. It would drown enemy champions in a huge AOE that gradually deals damage and slows the enemy champions inside. If the enemy champions are inside for 3 seconds, it stuns them for short duration. Every level, the slow percentage, stun duration, and damage increase. This ability has a long cooldown (115-90 seconds).

I was thinking about his lore, and I thought it would be interesting if he originated in Freljord and affected by the Rune Wars. Or I was thinking he would be born in Lokfair and discovered in Freljord. That way he would be friends with Brand/Anivia.

I thought of a cool Release Skin, as well. He would be half Black and half White (not racist, I mean Black and White) Also, Riot could make several different skins, such as Ionia/Noxus, Comedy/Tragedy, etc

Antithete would make a great Mid Laner or ADC Bot Laner because of his use of AP and AD.

I'm not sure about these, if you want to change/modify, please leave a comment below.

I think above all else, there should be some instance where he is able to basic attack without putting a point into a spell. You stated that his basic attack would be fire if he specs one ability and ice if he specs another, this leads me to believe that he will have no basic attack until one of these receives a point.

For a practical example, let's say for instance you're laning opponent gets to lane a short time after you do. You'll want to either push lane or secure cs, but you want to make sure you don't pick the wrong ability (should your lane opponent start with cloth armor or null magic mantle).

I say it should be mentioned that (or something like this) "Antithete's basic attack is a ball of water (neither ice nor fire), until either Q or W has a skill point put into it.

Restricting Zilean's W until level 2, makes sense. Restricting a champ's ability to basic attack until he puts points into one of 2 abilities he has, much wat.

You state that his resource bar will be used for instances like his E and passive, so would this champ's only resource be cooldowns such as Garen and Katarina, or would he use a resource (shouldn't be mana or energy if the resource bar is going to be unique like this)?

I'd like a little bit of clarity added to his passive if that would be possible. It sounds like a Banshee's Veil, but one that is also able to be broken by basic attacks.

If this is correct, a 10 second Banshee's Veil on any champ is incredibly powerful, even if basic attacks can destroy it. If you are very much attached to having a Banshee's-like shield, that cooldown should definitely go up.

However it's also possible that this passive could be a flat shield that collapses regardless of damage taken, in which case would be pretty nice (but admittedly pretty similar to Malphite). In case this yet-to-be-implemented mechanic is unclear, it would be a shield that, for the sake of an example, would be worth 100 health. If someone comes in and deals 150 damage to you with a single hit, you only take 50 damage. But if an AP carry is hiding in a bush, basic attacks you for 15 damage, the shield completely collapses with you taking no damage from the basic attack, yet you are now completely open to their followup burst.

Also, if you are attached to the mechanic of having the Q or W assist in charging the passive, it would seem more balanced to double (or if that's too much, it could be a flat bonus) the resource gain of Q and W on killing a unit, rather than granting an automatic refresh.

(Had questions regarding passive before creating this that could possibly change my view)This champion also seems to be relatively odd in terms of survivability. While it is nice to have a carry with built in sustain, having this champion's only cc tied to their ultimate, with no dashes, blinks, or stat buffs in any way, makes this champion seem easy to all-in pre-6 (especially since this champ won't have the defensive stats of a tank).

Perhaps you could make it so that his active that fires an ice ball could slow targets hit and his fire ball active could increase his movement speed.

From a thematic standpoint, love the duality of ice and fire. This is definitely a matter that should be addressed in his lore, be it him sealing up a volcano that opened in the Freljord or whatever you decide upon. You can even use this thematic stance to make it so that he fires his basic attack from one hand if you put points into his Q and the other hand if you put points into his W (casts both hands in front of him if neither have points).

When you state his body is half ice and half fire, I think it would be a nice touch if the two halves weren't a clean cut down the middle, but rather intertwining and swirling segments of ice and fire intermingled across his body.

I thought of his Q/W selection to be the first thing you have to select. (Think of it as a risk/reward scenario) However, I could make an adjustment where he shoots just water balls for a fixed (not very big) number of damage until you select.

I also don't think he should be affected by AP/AD runes and masteries for this reason. In other words, his abilities and attack would rely only on items. This would actually be good, since you could use them for other things (make him tankier or faster).

The passive would not be a banshees, people are reading that wrong. It is like a spell shield (it gives you resource when hit) but it doesn't give you any added protection. However, I would like the champion to have some innate sustainability.

Plus my second passive idea was an alternate, a complete switch, not an added innate. I liked your idea of the double resource.

I also understand where you are coming from with the pre-6. However, he should be able to get his R pre-6, possibly even level 2. I wouldn't call it an ultimate per se, and I may shorten its cooldown for this reason. I could do that or use your idea of a self-buff/enemy-debuff.

Also, yes, for his body I was thinking something like Magma Chamber, but I also wanted swirls about his arms

Fix this please. it sounds like a decent idea but it says you shoot fireballs for both. :l So im just kinda confused

So he gets a free banshees on a 10 seconds cooldown at level 1? GG every poke based bot lane.

Eh, I was thinking that he would still be damaged.

Plus, there was an alternate Passive, if you read that...
