Champion Concept: Dhark, the Gem Sorcerer - Reborn
Dhark, the Gem Sorcerer - Reborn
Who is Dhark?
Dhark was once known as Derrik, back in Demacia, where both he and Taric had learned to master the power of magical gems and crystals. But where Taric was warm-hearted and compassionate, Derrik was ambitious and cold. Taric was better known for his healing gems and bright composure (including his hair), while Derrik was always struggling to try and do the same, but could only find that his magic was uncanny and potentially harmful to others. And so, he was shunned. But Derrik heard of the might of the Noxian leader Swain, an individual who overcame his disability and ridicule to ascend to one of the three most powerful in all of Noxus. He wanted to do the same and be recognized for his might. So he ventured off to plead to Swain for training to overcome his troubled past, but crossing through some ruins, he stumbled upon what looked like once an altar, with three holes designed for stones. One was missing, another was hard and pitch black, and a third lie on the floor next to it, with a faint purple glow. Unsure of the stones properties or why it was abandoned, Derrik imbued it with a bit of his magic to learn more. His whole core shook, and he fell unconscious.
Lost in the darkness of his own mind, he felt something sifting through his brain, a deep and dark anger surging, burning away his memories of shame and envy, and opening his mind to something dark beyond, a force far stronger compared to any other he’s encountered. He learned so much more about his power and its capabilities in what seemed like so little time, because he was awake again in an instant. Brought back to reality, he felt this undying urge to head to where he knew was a breach leading to the void. It all made sense now. The power, the voices and forces drawing him to the darkness of the Void, and his right arm covered in burning scars of purple that did not hurt; he had unlocked the secrets of an age-old Void stone. A permanent mistake. Or was it?
He felt new power, unlike anything he’d felt before. And so he tested it, pulling out crystals from his pouch to use his magic and see what he’d learned from the darkness. It was shocking to see the devastation he could now cause, breaking and reforming gems to hurt and destroy. It was not what he had asked for, but his clouded mind felt it was what he’s needed all along. His tormented soul was silenced by the ever-buried desire to seek revenge and rise as a powerful magician that would make Taric’s spells seem like party tricks. And so he left his journey for Noxus behind, and went to find those that did him wrong, and show them who was stronger. He didn’t know where Taric was, but where he could cause pain, he knew Taric would try to come and heal. How predictable.
And so came Dhark from those ruins. A magician capable of using gems and crystals to wreak destruction on immense levels, ready to prove himself stronger than Taric, and stronger than the voices from the Void that haunt his every step.
Passive: Touch of Void
-Every 60 seconds, Dhark’s Crystal Fall becomes Void Starfall, allowing him to warp in a crystal anywhere on the map that doesn’t count as a charge and lasts indefinitely until detonated. -Damaging an impaired enemy grants bonus Ability Power for 4 seconds (8 second cooldown).
Q: Crystal Fall
-Dhark warps a crystal into the air and drops it at a target location, damaging and slowing all nearby enemies, and leaving the crystal behind for 4 seconds. -Dhark can hold up to 3 charges of Crystal Fall. -Dropping Crystal Fall onto an existing crystal consumes it to detonate, dealing significantly increased damage in double the area of effect (slow remains the same).
W: Gem Field
-Dhark creates a field of gems on the ground that slows all enemies inside it. This field then grows over the next 3 seconds, and can last a total of 5 seconds. -Dhark can reactivate this ability to damage and root all enemies inside the area. -Casting Gem Field on an existing crystal consumes it to significantly increase the expansion rate and duration. -Dropping Crystal Fall on a Gem Field deals bonus magic damage and knocks up all enemies inside instead, and does not leave behind a crystal.
E: Crystal Surge
-Dhark sends out a magical surge of energy in a direction, damaging all enemies in its path. -Other existing crystals nearby (so not all on the map will be affected) will send out a surge towards the same location as Dhark’s, dealing 50% damage.
Ultimate: Gem Overload
-Passive: Crystal duration increased to 6 seconds. -Active: Detonates all crystals on the map to deal immense magic damage to all enemies in a large area. -Any unused charges of Crystal Fall will result in a detonation around Dhark, dealing 75% of the damage for each unused charge (capped at 150% damage dealt to enemies).
I got some nice feedback when I first introduced Dhark, so I made some cool changes in my opinion, and hopefully this would boost his popularity and enhance his gameplay. As always, thanks for the feedback. I look to introducing more of my concepts.
