I Want to Know More About Ranked

Readers,

I am looking for advice in the Ranked games of League. I have built up a roster of champions that I love and know how to play, and I feel comfortable playing Normal Draft games. I know that Ranked gives the impression that everything is far more difficult, and I was curious if that is true or not, and what all changes?

Are there better rewards? Are there less trolling players? Do you have a better experience overall playing Ranked versus Normal?

What makes Ranked games better? What keeps you interested after putting in hours of play? What do you get out of it if you aren't part of a team competing nationally in ESports?

I would appreciate your responses, and I would love to hear from a Riot member, if they would feel inclined to share their thoughts on Ranked and its purpose.

Sincerely,

A Player

Are there better rewards?

Other than bragging rights based on your rank, you get a Victorious Skin at the end of the year.

Are there less trolling players?

Not Really, their may be more.

Do you have a better experience overall playing Ranked versus Normal?

Depends, winning feels better, losing feels worse, then their is anxiety that some players go through that could in itself make it worse.

What makes Ranked games better?

It counts, everything you do positive and negative counts, in normals if you go 0-10 you can just brush it off and move on but in ranked it'll affect your stats.

What keeps you interested after putting in hours of play?

I'd say what as kept me interested for the last four years. The drive to get better.

What do you get out of it if you aren't part of a team competing nationally in ESports?

What do you get out of anything if your not doing it at the pro level? Enjoyment, and the drive to continue to better yourself at your trade.

Hey, i'm someone who plays ranked almost exclusively. Here's why you should play ranked:

  • You have people who will tell you if youre shit or not (which can actually help you improve)
  • People take the game seriously, so you won't have to play with adc lee/master yi, so you get legitimate games for you to practice in
  • toxicity, in the most extreme cases (of people telling you to kys) are not true, and are primarily only seen in the lowest of elos (silver 5 and below)
  • you're competing against people in their main roles, whereas in norms people are practicing new roles/builds ect *I don't know about about you, but if you have friends in school that play league, its always fun to compare ranks even though you're not looking to get into esports
  • you get rewards for reaching certain elos, like borders skins ect
  • you get to play with chinese players that don't speak an ounce of english
  • open mid is an actual thing, whereas in norms it isn't
  • when you play ranked for a while, you can go to norms and absolutely crush people (if youre at least gold 3 +)
  • games are more difficult without a doubt
  • you have more people invested in the game. Whereas in norms people afk out of random

  1. What do you mean by better rewards?
  2. There were, are and will always be trolls no matter if you're playing ranked or normal. In higher elos there are less trolls though because people tend to take this more seriously than normal games.
  3. Yep. 4 and 5 : If your goal is to get better in this game, then yeah, ranked games are better and when you win it feels more satisfactory. There is no better feeling than getting to a higher elo through hard work, trust me =D
  4. You'll get some rewards at the end of each season. ( loading screen border depending on your elo + victorious skin to everyone in and above gold )

Thank you for your responses.

I am pleased to see that there are players who take this game seriously enough to one, enjoy its aspects, and two, take time to help out others who are interested and inexperienced.

I appreciate the time you took to listen and contribute, and perhaps we'll meet again in-game.
