"You can really feel the heat out there tonight, Resnok! Femme Fatale is really kicking the tin can in! You think Zaunbie Zuper is gonna walk outta this ring in functioning capacity?!" "I don't know about you, Jarc, but Zaunbie's really slugging it compared to his record. You think he's been tipped for a better deal?" "Hard to believe, Res. Losers don't walk outta this ring the same way they walked in, dead or alive. If he's really got himself a third party deal, it better be damned good!"

You can almost taste the Freljord gin at the tip of their serpentine tongues as the announcers spit into the microphone, capitalizing off illegal fights between Zaunite street scum and Piltover service bots with punching gloves. Thought it wasn't like you were going to risk the fuzz showing up at your doorstep for something as petty as deathbrawls in the depths of Zaun's stormdrain. Unless you were in the ring itself and you didn't have any debts to pay, you were doing pretty solid. Unfortunately, I had a debt to pay. A fat one too, and I put the last of my rent on this match to see if I couldn't scramble up a gitz to inch my way to paying these guys off. To both my luxury and my occasion, my bet was winning.

Before the procedures, these crowds were my limelight. My home away from an absence of home. Like I knew everyone around me. But now the thick blanket of silence deafens the energy and vibe of the crowd gone wild. Though there is one voice that keeps me company. She isn't very chatty during the fights- apparently she likes them more than I do. Whereas I'm watching for a paycheck, she's watching for entertainment. "Zaunbie isn't even keeping his hands up. Someone's paid him off to throw the game." Her artificial voice hummed through the interior intercom of my head like a second conscience. "So?" I thought in return, albeit bluntly. "All the better for me. For us." "But its against the spirit of the sport, Mekan. If I wanted to see a subjugated servitor be turned into a punching bag, I'd say we pay a visit to the scrap yard on Rocko Street." She's really serious about these fights. "You used to love roboxing. What happened?" "I'll let you think on that one for a second." . . . "Oh." "Yeah." "Sorry. I'm still getting used to this whole "I'm you and you're me" thing." "I guess it's a two way street. You're not the only one on this sinking lifeboat of a fleshbag. Though we could really use some time to-" "Mekan." "What?" "Upstairs balcony. Four o'clock." I looked. Four mechanized thugs, the size of a Demacian's ego each. One pointed directly at me, and the rest of their eyes followed. Ever walked into a room with everyone with their eyes on you? Kinda like a fishbowl? That was the easiest way to describe it.

"And she's done it! Femme Fatale wins the pot! Zaunbie Zuper is decommissioned!" The caster's voice booms through the echo chamber beneath the surface metropolis, heralding the roar of the crowd. Some in anger. Some in victory.

"I'll have to pick up my winnings later." I muttered in my head, worming my way through the crowd. "If you don't die. Or if the organizers don't get robbed blind again. Or-" "Lauren. Happy thoughts please?" "Sorry."

Slowly, we swam our way through the crowd with relative ease, making headway to a door labeled "Maintenance" in large, bolded letters. Pipelines weaved into the wall hissed steam out from various excretion points as we hustled our way through.

The door behind us swung open with a slam and the aforementioned thugs came sprawling out like a can of worms. A cursory glance over the shoulder for a single second was all it took to make out their angry, ugly faces. And so the goosechase began.

And so we ran, and we ran and we ran. We outran the debt and we outran the collectors, or at least most of them. As we came around the corner of the undermost belly of the maintenance shaft we collided with one of their lackies- a seven foot brute clad in steel.

Fight or flight ran through my body like a crack of lightning, and an unwaivering force slammed him into the wall beside us. The pipe burst open and created a person-shaped dent in the wall where he had been tucked in neatly by the telekenetic shove. I didn't stay to picket for long as I continued to dart the hell out of dodge.

"Was that you or me?" "You," Lauren replied. "I assume it was a subconscious response to seeing a walking metal beefstick. Though if you didn't do it I was going to myself." My eyes flared and a sigh flew out my nose. "So you're saying I still don't have control over it. Peachy." "Don't beat yourself up over it. This kind of technology wasn't meant for a body as-" "Weak minded?" "Young. I was going to say young." "I get it, I get it. I'm 'Undeveloped' or whatever. Just find us a way out of this mess." "I've already been working on it. Long range clairvoyance magic is unreliable this far underground, but I think there should be a lift at the far end of the next corridor." "Here's hoping, then."

The next door swung open. Lauren was correct about a shaft, but the lift was absent. The access had likely been long since decommissioned. "So I was half right." "You were also have wrong. Do you think we can propel ourselves upwards?" "This is your legs we're talking about, not mine." "I'll cross my fingers, then. Just get us up."

The motley crew flooded into the small access and began pummeling over one another in the direction of the shaft. All the while an unseen force launched us upward, like getting hit by a vertical train. As I flew up the shaft I could barely make out their figures as I spun wildly out of control mid flight. Another unseen shove projected me even farther up the shaft, again and again as if I were being batted around. A final smack sent me fumbling through several wooden boards and a "CONDEMNED" sign on the surface of Zaun once again. The murky, near unbreathable Zaun Grey loomed above as I lay near the brink of what felt like death.

"On the bright side, you've only broken 23% of your bone mass." "That's... the good news...?" "Considering you're bleeding everywhere, yes." "...Right....."

Slowly, my body came to a rise- not by my own control but by the puppeteering another unseen force. I blinked, whincing through the pain in some parts of my body nad the numbness in others.

"Is.. Is that you doing that?" "I'm trying something, give me a moment." My right foot moved forward slowly. My left moved ahead of it. She was piloting my body, or at least attempting to. For the first time, I understood what she felt when I moved around without her being able to have a physical say in how my body functions. Like a brain floating lifelessly inside a body as the body meandered on its own. Except this time I was the own floating lifelessly inside my own body, as she began to slowly slump down the street, towards home.

A year before.

Smoke fumed out from the toppled building in the street, flames spitting out from the base of the blaze as the smell of cooked meat met the nose of the surrounding response team morbidly. Some screamed as they were scorched into unrecognizable ash. Others lay in silence as the fire consumed them, dwelling on their last moments away from the pain and the suffering of being burnt alive.

The role and purpose of the Zaunite response team was never to save lives. They showed up to disasters to claim lives- collecting the bodies of those still barely hanging onto the threads of life to be utilized in experiments and tests. As guinea pigs and lab rats. One such individual was a young woman, just by the skin of her teeth an adult, was scorched beyond recognition. But a heart beat like a drum within, hanging on like mad- only to stay alive as masked men in white coats hurled her injured body into a cart with the rest.

For months, Mekan spent her time suspended in a chemical tank, attatched to several dozen machines, feeding tubes and only being able to make contact with other signs of life when hazy, indiscernible white figures shifted around behind the contortion of the preservation fluids and the tank itself. Her physical wounds were beyond repair or any form of magic-based healing. Hex-tech augmentations were substituted for primary organs and sensory detectors. On that day, half of her humanity was taken from her. The science was nothing new in the concept of body modification. Mechanical augmentation had become a trend in Zaun many decades ago, and it had only grown.

But no matter how many upgrades were planted into her body, it did not solve the problem that her brain was unable to send messages to the rest of her body to commit to any physical actions. From an outsider looking in, she had appeared to become braindead. The facility had already gone through with various enhancements and prosthetic upgrades to Mekan that it would be a waste to throw her out.

And thus, a prototype intelligence was installed at the base of her cerebral cortex. It was called the Lifeline AUxiliary REcalibration Navigator, or L.A.U.R.E.N. for short. A personality and mind molded artificially to pilot the body that they had, in their eyes, improved.

But since she was not actually dead in the brain, the intelligence did not take over the body but merged entirely, sharing conscience with two whole separate personalities. For the first month, Lauren was in control, until eventually Mekan awakened once again.

"Alert. Outer-system neural activity. >Bodily control at 93%." "...What..?" "Sorry, who is this?" "Same to you..- What are you doing in my body? Who are they? What are they doing? What have they-.."

It was at that moment that their memories slowly began to mix. Mekan's torturous rehabilitation and forced surgical modifications. The tests given to Lauren to ensure full functionality. What Mekan knew, so did Lauren. And what Lauren knew, so did Mekan. They began to understand.

Their shared body was in the middle of an acrobatics test when Lauren and Mekan had collided. As they stood in place, the test hands approached Mekan in attempt to figure out what had gone wrong. Their restriction magic had been engineered for one mind, not two, and this truth began to surface as Mekan and Lauren began to fight their way out. Not just physically, but mentally.

The presence of two minds had done many things to their body. Not only had it allowed them to break free of any failsafes put in place by the engineers, but it opened up a strain of magic that was not there before. Their combined mental efforts had a physical effect on the world around them- and it was only when a Zaunite researcher was flown through three walls just by thinking of the action that this came to the realization of both Mekan and Lauren. Using the loose control that they had on such a feat, they escaped the compound and found refuge in the undercity of Zaun where they would hide for months, and months, and months- until they one day resurfaced and reintegrated back into society with some control over themselves.

Two people in a single body, co-existing as one entity had never been done in the history of their world. There was no reference to base off of. No one to go to for consul. Only themselves as they slowly began to control what had been given to them, and to understand what had been taken from them.

#Passive: L.A.U.R.E.N. Mana Couplet http://i.imgur.com/FVHw9xx.png

Whenever Mek moves an enemy champion forcibly through one of her abilities, she regains 4/6/8% of her maximum mana and reduces the cooldown of all abilities, including her ultimate, by 1 second.

#Q: Displacement Shove http://i.imgur.com/HT4sf1B.png Cost: 75/85/95/105/115 Mana Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 seconds Casting Range (Starting point): 900 units Skillshot Length (Push distance): 500/550/600/650/700 units Wall Length: 250/275/300/325/350 units Skillshot Speed: 2500

Mek manifests a physical wall at a target location and sends it forward towards a specified direction, dealing 80/110/140/170/200 magic damage (+40% AP) to all enemies hit and pushing along all allied and enemy champions, minions and pets, as well as nonepic jungle monsters to its final destination where the wall will then instantly dissolve.

If an enemy (champion and nonchampion) is shoved into a wall, they take an additional 30/60/90/120/150 magic damage (+20% AP).

#W: Long-Range Hexscan http://i.imgur.com/GwBMBO3.png Cost: 75/80/85/90/95 Mana Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds Casting Range: 1600/1700/1800/1900/1200 units** Radius: 600 units Stealth Reveal Radius: 300 units Movement Speed Bonus Radius: 1250 units

Mek reveals the targeted area for 5 seconds. Allies moving towards the area for the duration of the reveal gain a 10%/15%/20%/25%/30% movement speed bonus.

Invisible champions and traps within the center of the area are also revealed.

#E: Netscape Alteration http://i.imgur.com/MA5A1RI.png Cost: 80/90/100/110/120 Mana Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds Casting Range: 700 units AOE Radius (On terrain target): 450 units Wall Length (On non-terrain target): 350 units Wall bounce distance: 200 units

If targeting map terrain: Deteriorates the terrain in target area for 3 seconds, allowing physical travel through it. Enemy champions caught in the terrain as it reforms are knocked up and out of the terrain to the closest side for 1.5 seconds and take 130/160/190/220/250 magic damage (+50% AP)

If targeting open, non-terrain area: After 0.5 seconds, summons an impassable deflector field that prevents physical travel. Enemy projects going through it travel 30% slower, whereas friendly projectiles move through it 20% faster. The first time an enemy champion walks into the wall, they are bounced back, taking 100/130/160/190/220 magic damage (30% AP).

#R: Expulsion Warhead http://i.imgur.com/Xshu1WA.png Cost: 125/150/175 Mana Cooldown: 100/90/80 seconds Casting Range: 3500 units AOE Radius: 600-1200 units

Mek charges for up to 5 seconds, preparing her missile to bombard the target area. For each second she charges, the radius and the damage of the missile's effect grows (Maxing at 3 seconds). Upon releasing the channel it lands and detonates after a 2 second delay, knocking back all enemy champions to the furthest reach of the explosion's area, ignoring terrain and taking 200-300/300-400/400-500 magic damage (50% AP)

If Mek continues to channel after the five seconds, she can activate the ability to detonate the bomb under her and fling her to a target location within casting range, still knocking back enemies on take off but not inflicting any damage.

While channeling, Mek is revealed to the enemy team.

Hey there, want some advice? :) Well you're getting it anyways xp

Passive - I'll skip this for now, I obviously can't really judge this without knowing the cooldowns and costs of her other skills. My only concern setting out is that this could easily end up like Lissandra where her passive is "compensated for" (which is always going to completely baffle me, btw) by bad stats or outlandish mana costs, essentially leaving her with no actual passive.

Q - This is actually VERY interesting, but I could do without it also pushing allies. Anivia's wall is beloved by trolls as it is, without it also shoving her supposed allies into enemy towers/teams/the fountain. The wall's pretty narrow, actually (about half that of Anivia's at all comparable ranks), but I still feel the cooldown is a bit low given her passive. At rank 5 with 40% cdr she gets this baby down to just 5 seconds, 4 if she happens to nudge herself just slightly along the way.

W - Once again, she's got a lot of potential to troll her own team with this one XD Still, a very unique and interesting ability. It might be fine if the fling was optional for allies, like making them click on it to give them a dash along it. Given the enormous utility on this skill, it definitely needs to just have a high cooldown and stay there. This is nearly as potent as an ultimate, giving you both engage and a way to catch enemies out and bring them into the arms of your team in one package.

E - This actually works nicely with her Q, opening paths and then sealing them behind you or restricting enemies' ability to get around her Q. Definitely remove the projectile speed alteration - not only is this ability powerful enough without that, changing the speed of skillshots changes how they need to be aimed. There's a lot of difference in how you'd aim Ezreal's Q and Morgana's Q thanks to the vast difference in travel speed, for example.

R - How is it her ultimate ended up being the simplest part of her kit? XD The first part doesn't quite have as much to do with her general bizarre (I mean that as in she does it in unusual ways, not that it doesn't make sense) zone control theme, but the self-displacement isn't at all needed when she's already got so many ways to control the manner in which enemies can and can't get to her or she herself can get around the map. It would probably be enough if she were knocked away by the last in the same manner that enemies are, and it would still let her passive work.

Also, Riot's pushing for all ultimates on mana-having champs to cost 100 mana at all ranks, Kayle being the only exception I can think of (and honestly I have no idea why hers works that way).

I normally just ignore base stats unless something stands out, but hers are... all over the place and I'm curious why you came up with the values you did. Her base AD is bruiser-level but her growth is terrible, even for a mage, and her attack speed is abysmal at all points, her base hp is likewise high for a mage but her growth is eh, her base mana pool is HUGE but her regen is something even Lissandra would laugh at (which is an issue I was concerned about with her passive) her armor makes Sona's look impressive at all ranks.

On a similar note, she needs to have 38.5 magic resist at rank 18. New standard for ranged champs :)

Going back to her passive, while she's definitely got the tools to make use of it, but not in ways that allow her to use her abilities easily. She has to set up her walls in specific ways to knock herself with it while also moving enemies in the ways she wants them to (generally away from her, she has no business moving herself closer to melee or short-ranged ranged champions and her generally good ranges doesn't give her much reason to get close to longer ranged champions either), she DEFINITELY doesn't want to fling herself at enemies or enemies at herself if she's alone, and making use of her ultimate to displace her forces her to get closer than she might like.

You might consider changing around her cooldowns and mana costs and instead just having this ability be about the ways in which she forces enemies to move instead. Something like "forcing enemies to move into terrain by any means additionally deals bonus magic damage and stuns them, X static cooldown per target" is borderline obvious given how forced-movement-centric her kit is. It fits, definitely, it's just she doesn't really wanna be moving HERSELF for one reason or another.

Honestly, this kit might have issues in balance. Her Q, W, and E are so jam-packed with utility that they're all almost ultimate-level abilities just themselves, so they definitely need high cooldowns. Given how generally safe she is with all her ways to control enemey movements, you definitely need a window to punish her if she misuses her skills. I definitely agree that she'd be a pretty fierce support with all the tools she's got to bring enemies to her jungler of other allies or keep them off her adc.

Oh, but you DEFINITELY wanna remove some of her options to force allies to move XD Like I said, trolls would love this girl.

But anyways, this is a wonderfully creative concept, give yourself a pat on the back :)

And after you're done, do me a solid and review Qing please xp

#8/13/2017 Update #1

  • Adjusted Q speed (Was meant to be much faster, was originally very slow via clerical error in stats.)
Sad Tyrant8/13/2017, 3:33:55 PM1 votes

Nice edit of Phantom Assassin's Face.

I think the Ult and the passive is out of Place.

the ult is generally stepping on Ziggs'

while the passive is more of a 'get in there' tank passive, rather than a 'Get over there or I'm going to put you there' passive. it would work better if it was weaker but worked with enemy champions as well. and the Mana costs, and the some of the cooldowns for her abilities are exorbitant

my only problems with Q is that it could be used to troll, because champions are usually disabled whilst being displaced.

W has the same problems, trolling, we all know how annoying trundle knocking you out of Mediation with his E. (don't let allies be flung)

my suggestions: have a stack system, like Viktor W. allies step on one arrow, 1 stack, 25% faster, 4 arrows total, 4 stacks, 100% faster. Enemy, 1 stack, slowed and when the stack runs out or they step off they are flung in the direction of the runway. and the fling scales, with the amount of stacks they get.

E, I think it does too much. abilities are meant to be easily explained. the other abilities are easily explained, pushing wall + damage, speed boost for allies, W, fling for enemies.

what I think is missing is synergy of abilities, how would these ability work together?.

if you continue to improve it, this would make an excellent support.

First Thoughts

Mek feels like the classical "all the eggs in the teamfight basket" support; lots of powerful, unique utility with interesting effects...But an abysmal laning phase, since she has no sustain, low damage and her crowd control seems quite difficult to engage with.

Base Stats

Quickly touching upon these, Mek has rather terrible natural stats, especially her growths. These are the sort of stats you'd expect on a League version of Abathur from HotS, where they're meant to never even leave base (and thus the stats don't matter). Going to mostly ignore these in favour of her actual abilities, but these would leave her fodder for any sort of gank, even with her Q (which is still able to be flashed).

Passive - L.A.U.R.E.N Mana Couplet

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless she either flashes get in front of her Q (which seems far more trouble than 8% mana regen and a second off her abilities is worth), Mek only actually has her W and her ultimate to proc this, and her ultimate ain't exactly Missile Barrage for its cooldown. That, combined with the fact her abilities all have pretty long cooldowns in general, makes this seem like an odd, tacked on passive.

Using her W as a treadmill to generate mana/cdr just seems like an odd gameplay pattern

Q - Displacement Shove

Definitely interesting ability, and potentially quite fun. Probably more useful for its ability to get allies into fights than as a peeling tool, since flash trumps it in more than just the usual way (and if it's not up, most champions you'll want to peel have something that can get past it), but the ability has a short enough cooldown that using it multiple times per engagement is definitely doable.

The base damage could do with being a little higher, considering it appears to be her only reliable damage source.

W - Holosurf

Usually, I evaluate abilities one at a time, but this ability appears to be...Really similar to Displacement Shove, but just generally less useful, due to the reduced range and 1.25 second delay. You can't really do anything cool with it that you couldn't with her Q, as far as I can tell. You just get a little bonus shield when you do.

I suppose you could theoretically set it up before hand, then Shove an enemy into it? But that seems a bit contrived.

E - Netscape Alteration

The wall destruction portion is novel, and has a bunch of cool applications by opening up gank paths and what not, though it seems limited in use during the laning phase. The wall portion, on the other hand, seems a little anaemic in use. It's again on a long wind up and, as a bot laner, it'll often be blocking/speed up projectiles that can't be dodged regardless. As a Pearl main from Battlerite, I can appreciate the concept, but I don't think it really works in LoL. In any case, the fact she can do either helps smooth over this. It's two pieces of narrow utility, but they only occupy one slot.

Could still probably do with the numbers tuned up a little.

R - Expulsive Warhead

Well.

That's maybe a little absurd.

I kinda glanced over the numbers at first, assuming it'd be ~the same as Explosive Cask...As it stands, Expulsive Warhead is a brokenly good initiation tool. At worst, it's a super Explosive Cask; 3500 range, better AOE and lower CD at low levels (and Gragas's ult was already really good). If your opponent doesn't know you're dropping it, on the other hand, it's quite literally wins teamfights single-handedly from over a screen away. Hell, you can even use it as a Pseudo Shurima-Shuffle by hiding behind the enemy team and detonating them forward if need be. This either needs either a longer detonation wind up, a Xerath ult-esque 'reveals user while channelling' or some other form of balancing function that stops her basically guaranteeing a kill every 100/90/80 (reduced by CDR) seconds.

Gameplay

On one hand, Mek feels like she'd be incredibly dull and frustrating to play during the very early laning phase. While she can stop someone like Leona or Alistar from going in, anyone who pokes or sustains seems like they get to walk all over her until level 6. At level 6, you basically just dunk the enemy team with dive in -> ult detonation -> wall into turret, with that 1800 range total displacement, so I guess you just sit at turret and wait until then.

Thematics

From the lore snippet, while we get decent insight into Mek's personality, we don't really get a grasp on how she'd fight, so I can't really give a good evaluation on her kit. It's suitably tech-y, at least.

Overall

The power of Mek's ultimate basically dwarfs that of the rest of her kit as it currently stands. Regardless of her poor pre-six laning phase, the redundancy of her basic abilities or her lack of fallback options if her team doesn't need the fairly narrow (albeit powerful) utility she brings, the sheer power of 'ult to initiate' would probably make her an auto-ban in current circumstances. If I may make some suggestions, I'd probably rework the passive (since it doesn't bring much to her kit), tune up some of the numbers on her Q and E (which are both pretty decent abilities by themselves, even if her E's a little narrow), probably rework the W (preferably giving her something that helps her lane a bit better, like a shield that properly on demand?), folding some of its utility into her Q, and way WAY tone down her ultimate.

And now, for the obligatory, shameless personal plug, if you could take a look at my own champion, Marche, the Trespasser, I'd really appreciate it.
