I get that they're a group of ninjas, but Shen isn't the type of ninja that goes about killing people as his main thing, he's more about protecting people. You can have ninjas that protect people, instead of just being assassins. If he has to kill anyone, he's like a self-defense/protecting the innocent type of ninja.

First off that's not really my definition of "heavy plate," and second, armor has a pretty important purpose; namely, protecting you from getting shrekt. Generally speaking, capes do not serve a practical purpose.

Actually, it is more of a cloak than a cape, and cloaks are used for protection against adverse weather conditions... so maybe Ionia has really severe rainstorms?

ninjas don't normally wear armor. if they did, the deadliest warrior match between the spartan and the ninja probably would have gone a lot differently. yes it's useful, but as far as ninjas go, they would be more likely to wear a cloak to help them blend into the environment then a metal chestplate and helmet since that kind of kills the stealth part of being a ninja.

Ninjas weren't always stealthy though, ninja was pretty much just a catch-all name for some groups of mercenaries. While covert operations were often a part of their duties, open combat was something that they would be hired for as well. Shen would likely be one of those 'thugs' used in a more combat orientated role, nothing about his character is stealthy, hes a powerful fighter, so him wearing some measure of protective armor wouldn't be odd. It would probably be leathers of some sort rather than metal armor however

Espionage, assassination, sabotage, and infiltration were what Ninjas were trained for historically in the villages of Iga and Koga. They were hired for combat too but they are not as good as Samurai or typical mercenaries at combat. A lot of people are misinformed about Shinobi except for the mythical aspects(like being able to make clones, summon animals, turn invisible, walking on water) and using hand signs to make magic) of them which were lies spread to drive fear into people. They did use hand signs to throw off enemies and ninjutsu was just tactics ninjas used for example fire ninjutsu was to tactically use fire to destroy or distract. Shen would be trained in Ninjutsu in the lore but he is in more of a support combative role in the game. In my opinion I would like his VU to be like his splash art as I like the pop culture Ninja design best. Ninjas wore mainly disguises during daytime and wore something similar to what pop culture ninjas were during nighttime in a dark blue color.

Speaking of that Zed mask/helmet on Shen's side, why not have a passive with Shen and Zed. It'll be like Rengar Vs Kha'Zix's passive, 'The Hunt is on', except it'll be between Shen and Zed.

There is only a special Taunt that Zed does against Shen. Shen does not have anything special towards Zed.

I'm hoping he gets a complete 100% rework.

Shen is probably the most out of context character that I have seen in my entire life as a gamer. He is a tank class but he is a ninja. Since when does assassination, stealth, cloak and dagger combine with doing no damage, not being sneaky at all and managing to take it up the ass for the team.

Back then Riot didn't like to follow typical tropes. I mean yeah, Kennen Assassinates, Akali does the typical ninja stuff but Shen is special, he a leader of a group of ninjas who do varying types of work. Shen is more of a protector in ninja clothing. It breaks stereotypes of ninjas and I love it.

I love Shen's play style, saving allies with ulti and stuff But he just...looks so... AWFUL! and his animations... HORRIBLE!

and no skin saves it either

I want a gangplank like update that makes him a renegade like this update his normal skin but in an event make him change into this make him give into the dark side (forbidden shadow arts) in order to save someone from Zed also an excuse to finally give Zed fans a skin (spooky Zed XD) This is single handedly the best look for Shen ever! Please Rito give some feedback on the possibility of this being a thing!

im prettty sure an event isn't supposed to completely strip a champ of their identity. Like the shurima even still kept renekton evil and the bilgewater event still kept gangplank as a mighty pirate captain

Gangplank passed from being a pirate captain in control of an entire city to a lonely vengefull pirate who lost everything why can't shen pass from the chosen twilight ninja to the anti hero ninja who sacrificed himself to the forbbiden shadow art to save his people?

because shen's entire lore has to do with him being the good guy he trained his whole life in order to fulfill his duty to keep balance not to mention that the forbidden shadow art is what zed used to kill his father plus shen is supposed to be the complete opposite of zed gangplank is still a pirate and he is still seen a big figure in bilgewater your going to make good guy shen go to the dark side

But it would be so coooooool! not to mention perfect good guy is boring, give him some character growth like gangplank (not a big shot anymore by the way, all those faithfull to him were killed by MF)

we don't have many anti heroes, we have fallen heroes ( Varus ), redemption heroes ( Riven Yasuo ) But having a good guy stay good but in the dark side to protect what is important we have only one, and he is one of the coolest lore characters ever ( Kassadin )

Why can't Shen get a gangplank level of story development in an Ionian event where to stop Zeds army he realizes his power is not enough and he opens the box of the forbidden arts (against the wishes of Akali and alike) He is able to stop Zed but realizes he can no longer serve as the Twilight and leaves, to protect the balance from the Shadows giving way for a new ninja character that becomes the new Twilight

I'm not sure if this should be his visual update or if it should be a new skin called "Grey Shen" or something while everyone else calls it Smoke to fit in with Subzero and Scorpion Shen....err...I mean Frozen and Yellow Jacket.

The jagged edges of the armor look quite similar to Zed's. In fact, this depicts Shen as a little more sinister than I would think him to be. Nonetheless, it looks sweet! But he looks more like an assassin than a keeper of balance.
