SBP's Zyra rework idea
AHAHAHAHA, I did not sleep today. This post is the result of my whole night work.
So, before we start, here are some goals I wanted to achieve:
- Keep current garden with many plants feel
- Distinguish Mid and Support playstyle so she isn't just a second mid down there
- Remove RNG elements and annoying stuff in her kit
- Keep jungle Zyra
I don't want to waste anyone's time so I'll just imediately start with the changes.
#Changes
[NEW] Passive: Garden of Blooms Every 28-10 (based on a level, scales with CDR) Zyra plants roots at her current location. Roots last 50 seconds or until being stepped on by an enemy champion.
If Zyra places a seed on roots, Stranglethorns' bloom grows and releases cloud of pollen (2 seconds duration).
Q: Deadly spines
bring back what was good Hitbox is now circle again.
Damage: 60/95/130/165/200 (+ 0.6 AP) -> (+0.7 AP) magic damage
[NEW] Thorn spitters acid: Thorn spitters attacks now reduce enemy's armor by 6% for 1 second, stacks 2×.
W: Rampant growth [NEW] Passive: Cloud of pollen heals allies by 20/60/100/140/180 (+ 0.5 AP) over 2 seconds.
Active: Plants a seed that lasts 50 seconds or until being stepped on by an enemy. Grants True sight for 4 seconds over the enemies that step on it. Seeds hit by Zyra's abilities grow a respective plant.
Recharge time: 14/13/12/11/10, max. 2 -> 3 charges
Max. seeds placed: 7
Plants
Health: 4 + (1 per 200 mana, max. 6)
Damage: 29 - 114 (+ 0.15 AP) -> 22 - 124 (+ 0.2 AP) (based on level) magic damage
E: Grasping roots
Damage: 60/95/130/160/200 (+ 0.5 AP) -> 60/75/90/105/120 (+ 0.75 AP)
Cast time: 0.75 s -> 0.5 s
R: Stranglethorns [NEW] Stranglethorns' blooms struck by the thicket have their duration restored and heal 50% more (heals from more blooms do not stack). [NEW] Zyra gains 20% bonus movement speed for 1.5 seconds when struck by the thicket.

- Zyra's able to keep 3 seeds charged at the time with 7 out. This engourages her to set her zone of control up by herself the way Gangplank is allowed to prepare his barrels, which removes the RNG factor.
- Number are shifted for this purpose: Midlane Zyra now scales way better with ability power for the cost of pushing her power more to the late game. On the other hand, support Zyra is now allowed to use support items such as Ardent Censer or Athene's Unholy Grail, or even Spirit Visage.
- Mana scaling into plant's health is supposed to strengthen mid Zyra's plants, because midlaners build mana, unlike support, whose primar focus will be mana regen - as mid Zyra's plants are her main tool, but support Zyra's main tool is her heal and CC.
- That's the reason why alot of E: Grasping roots' damage was shifted into the scaling. It also allows us to drop the insane cast time which is a cost for it going through all units, because support Zyra won't deal damage with it and midlane Zyra is the only threat enemy laner needs to focus on (not counting jungler, because we could count him into botlane's pressure, too).
- While jungle Zyra loses her 1st level clear, she gains two other tools for it: She gains a heal for the jungle sustain and also an ability to place her seeds as she needs to. I might see a problem in squishier plants and lower early damage on E, too, which naturally comes with pushing whole AP Zyra into the late game, might need testing.
- Why do Thorn spitters reduce armor now? That's another tool for support Zyra, basically irrelevant for mid, because otherways Thorn spitters would be pretty underwhelming for her - just to help her ADC. If proven too strong, nerf or removal might do.
- Short movement speed buff on her ult is just a tool for for surviving in today's overmobilized game and to make current underwhelming Rylai's not a mandatory item, so she can use her new scalings.
