Champion Concept: Razier, The Villain of Black Lightning

I've done some other hero concepts in the past, sadly to no real attention but that wont stop me from posting more, I feel as if I have a great imagination for someone of my age (29), and am always looking for ways to put it to use. Character Creation has always been one of my favorite methods. So without further A due... I give you, Razier, The Villain of Black Lightning (will try to upload and add my own art work of the champion at some point) I see Razier as a long black haired, pale skin man with a line of silver through his hair, cloaked in long ripped rag like clothes, wielding a long black one handed sword, with glimmering metal gauntlets on his hands, and Chained Leather boots.

Lore/Back ground story: Razier, raised on the Shadow Isle, was brought up alone by his mother, Atheria, a top a mountain in the isles center. Atheria, a former Mage of the Noxus army who sought retreat after abandoning her position as Chief of the Sorcerers council. She fell in love with a man from Demacia, who was a Captain of a scouting platoon. Gave birth to Razier, while she and her lover ran from both armies. Jarven the fourth, Sent Garen to capture the fleeting Captain, as Swain and Darius appointed Katarina to dispose of Atheria.

Atheria and her love knew they would forever be on the run if they stayed in runeterra, and sought to seek shelter on the forbidden shadow isles. Katarina, inevitably picked up their trail, and sent her scouts ahead, as she made sure their were no lures to misguide her judgement. Not long after the scouts ran ahead of their leader, they came across the nameless Captain... he stood in the path alone in front of three assassins. It was at this moment, Garen, who was ordered to capture him, came onto scene.

Garen, seeing Noxus troops knew in order to capture the captain, he would first have to help him. They fought together and took out their foes, as the last one fell, the captain knew if he gave himself up to Garen, he could stop the pursuit on Atheria and his new born son Razier... however... as he sheaved a black blade, Katarina lept from the shadows at Garen, who she had conflicts with from the first war. The Captain, shocked by the appearance of the Noxus Assassin, grabbed Garens blade which he held and stopped the blow to the Might of Demacia. He knew he had to somehow stop Katarina or Atheria would surely be hunted further.

The Captain however was not accustom to the massive blade and could not fully stop Katarina's blade. They sunk into his neck driving him down. Garen quickly took up his blade which this man used to defend his very life and fought a ferocious battle. While in a deadlock Garens troops arrived and Katarina fled into the shadows. Garen who was just saved moments ago by the man he was ordered to Capture, held his hand and listened to his final words. The Captain requested he help Atheria to the isles and gave him his sword as proof of trust for Atheria to take. Garen, in debt, obliged to this mans last request and found her a ways up the path. He lead them to the shores of runeterra and purchased a boat from a nearby village with carrier to escort them to the Isles.

With the Captian's sword in hand, he handed it to her and said, "I shall tell no one of your existence, however I must report the brave man who saved my life as a villain for your own Safety...". Atheria nodded as she took her loves blade in hand and eventually settled a top the mountain where she raised Razier. She taught him her ways in magic, an along with what little she knew of her fallen loves swordsmanship. As time past and Razier grew Atheria told him of his fathers actions, and who saved them that night. Razier, inspired by the story practice both the ways of magic and swordsmanship.

One night, as he practiced imbuing his blade with the magic he had learned, lightning struck from the skies above, and blew him back. The blade his father had left him flung from his hand and sank tip first into the ground. Razier still stunned but seeking his precious heirloom, looked around in a panic. His eyes focused enough to finally see the blade, he reached out, only for a bolt of black lightning to stream from his fingers to the blade, and return it to his hands. Atheria, worried about her son, came from their hideaway to see if he was ok.

Razier, still amazed by what he had just done, tried to cast the lightning again. however he only coated the blade in the glimmer of the black electricity. His mother bewildered by this feat, moved slowly toward Razier. Razier caught her movement from the corner of his eyes, smiled and tried to show her what he thought he had control of. He extended the blade towards her and focused on trying to coat it. However... this time, the blade flew out of his graps and into Atheria. The black lightning he thought he had control over surged from the blade and binded her. Razier in a panic called the blade back to his hand and caught his falling mother...

It was to late... Atheria had died from the force of his new found magic and wound from his fathers blade... when Razier came to realize this, he sunk the blade into the ground and screamed louder than the roar or the thunder overhead, releasing a laceration of black lightning streaming towards the skies. Years came to pass, and Razier left the isles. He tamed his powers and sought out Garen the only way he knew how... he created conflict just outside the walls of Demacia in small villages. The two eventually met by orders of Jarvin after numerous platoons had failed to stop Razier.

The two fought and clashed blades, Razier all the while holding back his magic. While in a deadlock, Garen noticed the black blade, and slowly drew back, muttering to himself, "it can't be...". Razier, now knowing Garen had remembered the blade, spoke only one line to him, "I want to thank you for what you did... however, if Demacia will remember my parents as a Villain, then I too shall be one, not just to Demacia, but to Noxus as well...". With that said Razier disappeared in dash of black lightning and an echo of thunder behind him. Razier now had one deed undone... to slay that who killed his father... Katarina...

PLAYSTYLE:

Ok first of all thanks to everyone who stuck it out thus far. I know that all this Crit talk sounds really over powered, however i don't think it is because he is what I am trying to define as a TRUE HYBRID. Meaning he NEEDS, not uses, but actually needs a well balance of both AP and AD to fully use his kit.

You can go multiple ways I think with Razier. Be it a jungler, mid or even top lane. his build path would differ for each roll as well. However I believe key parts of his build would Def include IE and Static Shivv, as the double chain proc from his W active and the item would be a huge boost, even without his E adding to the stack charges. Void staff, Rabadons, or runic/ludens echo would probably be a must as well.

I really wanted a "Scaling hybrid" to be his major feature. Like Jax, but more bursty and less tanky. I find he has obvious strengths and weaknesses. In order to get into a fight at the right time, he must poke and prod with his Q and W active from a distance, and use E and R at the right junction of a fight, and position to take out high priority targets. However his Dash can be forced when caught out making him really have to risk being taken out if he wants to get in for his full frontal burst of his ultimate.

With reasonably long cooldowns for most skills the player should pick his fights carefully and position himself well enough to have a clear path out in case things get a bit to risky.

Thanks for your time summoners, I would enjoy some feedback from the community but will understand if little to none comes from such a long written post.

P.S. If you have the time, please check out my other concept: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/NVVM3iPB-rias-the-lustrous-succubus

it is an older creation of mine, that i simply can not get over just because i love the play style behind her kit.

I'll jump in, been a while though.

Razier, raised on the Shadow Isle, was brought up alone by his mother, Atheria, a top a mountain in the isles center.

Umm.. You are aware the Shadow Isles are literally inhabited by the undead and beings corrupted by Black Mist? It's absolutely not a place habitable by the living. You might have an easier time setting up a home inside an active volcano.

Passive: Critical Mass: Raziers crits apply Critical Mass Stacks to the target(s). (Up to a max of 4 per target), for each stack, each target takes an additional .2% magic damage based off Raziers BONUS AP.

That's... kind of weak. So if he crits on an enemy 4 times, and assuming they're still alive, he gets a grand total of... .8% extra damage? That's not even noticeable.

Q: Peirce and Strike: (Mana cost: 70 mana all ranks) Cooldown- 12 seconds- Razier sends out his imbued blade to a set location, and Deals 60-110 (+10% AP/+5% AD) Magic damage at and to the Marked location. If the blade connects with a Champion (not hits at the mark) on its way to the marked point, it applies one stack of critical mass to the target and snares the target for .5 seconds according to now applied stacks. (all stacks on hit target are removed after this effect)

  1. It's spelled Pierce
  2. The damage on this is ridiculously low. 10% AP scaling? 5% AD scaling? 110 base damage? This might tickle an ADC, I suppose
  3. You say it snares the target for .5 seconds 'according to now applied stacks'. Does that mean it snares the target for .5 seconds PER stack? So a minimum of .5 seconds, and a maximum of 2.0 seconds?

W: Imbued power: Passive; Razier's basic attacks deal +25% of his BONUS AP as physical damage. The bonus damage of this effect can crit.

Active: (Mana cost - 40 all ranks) Cooldown- 15 seconds- {Durration 4,5,6,7 Seconds} Electricity flows through Raziers blade for a short time, any units within 75,100,125,150 range of one another are struck by a chain of lightning dealing 75% of Raziers Imbued power auto attacks, any champions hit by this chain are applied a stack of Critical Mass if dmg by a chain is calculated as a crit.

Rule of thumb is that unless you absolutely have to, you don't play with the range of abilties. It's not something the opponent can react to. They can't tell if the range is increased or not, not easily. This forces a burden of knowledge and assumption onto them, which is a very bad design choice. 75% is also a bit on the strong side here, especially for a rank 1 ability. Would advise making it start lower and scale up.

E: Noir's Dash: (Mana cost- 50,65, 80, 95) Cooldown- 25 seconds: Dash Range: 600, 800, 1000, 1200: Razier Travels in a straight line in an instant and deals 15% his bonus AP to all in his path. Champions in this path struck are deal one auto attack worth of damage (damage on champions can crit). NOTE: This does not add stacks to any item requiring movement for charges.

Same thing as before, don't play with ability ranges. A person plays the game expecting a maximum and constant range, so that they can work around it. If that range keeps fluctuating, it becomes a frustration.

R: Wrath of Rah: (Mana Cost- 110) Cooldown 140 seconds: Razier's rage surges from his body dealing 200, 300, 400 +75% AP to all enemies within 600 Range. Wrath of Rah consumes all stacks of Critical Mass on all struck enemies, giving Raziers next Auto attack on a Champion within 10 seconds 3% bonus AD Damage per stack consumed, this bonus damage is not calculated into bonus damage done by a critical hit.(max of 24%/8 consumed charges)

Not too bad, but the cooldown could be pretty reduced. This is, at it's core, just a damaging ability. It doesn't have any utility or great teamfight capabilities. It'd be worth around a 90 second cooldown, scaling down to maybe 60 or 70.

Overall, it's clear what you want to do with your design, but you've got quite a bit of work to do on the implementation. Keep up the effort!
