Bandwagon Hive Mind Voting is a bit of a problem
While it's not responsible for all votes, having content downvoted or upvoted once tends to influence people who are neutral.
I'll give you an example: in the link included, I commented:
"Vayne claims to hate the act of practicing black magic
Hypocrite."
as a response to her having a glitch that allows her to stun enemy Azirs into their own walls.
I'd say it's not even that funny, maybe only 3 upvotes at most, but it ended up getting 73 at the time of me writing this. Most people would go "eh. Good enough." but the high number instead implies "eh. Good enough. I'll upvote it though."
While I do like getting upvotes, having some pretty nice content like art or ideas buried simply because the first person to view it didn't like it isn't so good.
Riot should follow the footsteps of Reddit if they don't shun it instead and change the board format completely, and hide the amount of votes content has to everyone but the creator. Even though Reddit only does so temporarily, I'd argue it should do so permanently, as it shouldn't matter to most people what others think about a statement that isn't even theirs, only using up and down votes to sort hot content. If it's a specific idea, make a post of agreement (with a bit of constructive discussion).
Even moreso, add downvoted content to the hot content, and label it as controversial content, if there are also lots of upvotes (1/4 of the downvotes as upvotes at worst, and vice versa?). Make this rule based on the section however, as some memes are downvoted because that's the purpose, so make the hot content there just what's farthest from 0 (aka. what has a strong downvote or upvote tendency). (an example includes my KINDERD BAD GRAMMR rant)
Finally, please separate upvotes and downvotes, regardless if what I said before is followed at all. It's great to know if a) lots of people hate my content but some people like it or b) people hate my content, fullstop.
EDIT: Hooray! I now have -1 votes, and despite the evidence I have given (which can be disputed) to attempt to make this discussion as productive as possible, people who disagree with me voted first so now the chances of productive discussion are extremely low! Good job guys, for voting and not giving any constructive criticism, because that's what's so great about the community today.
But no, seriously. Not cool guys. Literally, the comment I made about this exact topic "bandwagon hive mind voting strikes again" in the same discussion as the Vayne-black-magic-comment wasn't received so negatively, so it's not the topic that's bad.
