Why do you allow such vulgar language on the boards?

I've done it, you've done it, we've all done it, but I'm surprised Riot allows this.

When someone is looking for a new game and they see League of Legends the likelyhood that they'll go to the forums for information is extremely high. In a way it's the face of the game, and when you see "fuck" "fucking", etc in damn near 50% of the threads it really puts a negative perception on not only the game and the community, but Riot as well.

It's beginning to bother me, and even I can swear like a sailor at times under the right situation. When someone uses these words as often as they do, especially in post titles it makes the poster look incredibly uneducated, childish and angry, you could probably argue that it's also in direct contradiction to Lyte's policies on in game behavior.

Curse words by themselves are not generally thought of as toxic (such as "this fucking game"). Only when they are directed at other people is it usually considered unacceptable (such as "fuck you"). Most people are mature enough to recognize the difference and not cross the line, or simply don't do it.

In the cases where lines are crossed with profanity, it is dealt with accordingly. But from what you are saying, it seems you think the context is irrelevant, and fortunately there are few that think that way.

If the simple act of foul language being used is too much for you, I'd suggest you stay well away from public video game forums comprised greatly of teenagers.

On a side note; No, most people don't even bother with the forums. For how many people play this game, forum traffic is virtually nonexistent.

The biggest thing that would deter me if I was a new player is how frequently some people tell others to "get good" or call them QQ trolls when they post.

One lesson that kids don't seem to be taught these days is that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. These boards are full of keyboard warriors who are likely young teenagers living with their parents who have no moderation and no supervision while they are on the internet. And they are likely unhappy in real life so they take out their frustration on posters on the boards.

To me, the prevalence of negativity on this board is worse than vulgarity. And that would be the biggest deterrent on me if I were a new player looking at these boards. People looking for advice get hit with the "get good, scrub" crap by at least one person each time they post their frustration. It's sad how immature this board is.

It doesn't depends on what words they say, but how they use them.

While I agree that the boards are a bit too lax with the amount of vulgar language they let pass by, if "fuck" offends you, you aren't fit for a large portion of the internet.
