you do realize this will increase quote-quote "upvote whoring", making the top post in every thread a joke or something sarcastic, like on your FB page or on any of the comments on your news posts?

Keeping track of total score does nothing towards encouraging constructive content. It just discourages making any statement that would be controversial, unpopular or whatever.

Won't turn into a Reddit copy? Riiiiight.

This seems really circle-jerky to me...

We appreciate all the feedback. This is something that a few members of the Boards team put together as part of an experiment. The intent was that it would be cool to give special recognition to our most active posters, but we completely understand your concerns. How could we change this to accomplish the following?

  • Create a way to recognize the most active contributors on the Boards
  • Include stats that reflect positive activity which is recognized and respected by everyone who uses the Boards

If you give us a good idea that we can easily execute as a follow-up, we're open to iteration.

A compulsion for upvotes causes people to not make anything they know won't get upvotes, and also one of the reasons people dislike the circlejerk that is reddit. With this system the boards could just turn into people spamming threads about popular subjects just to get upvotes from that group. I really don't think this system should be kept

I guess Riot is okay with circlejerks as long as they're about kissing their butts ˙͜>˙

Long live GD. Where every poster is equal.

Dragon Fang Shot7/15/2014, 11:03:42 PM2 votes

I guess people really like my comments :P didn't know I was that popular or whatever

  1. Sir ArmaMalum (218)
  2. MrBuffington (115)

I lol'd

Also, is there a record of total characters typed into Boards, average post lengths, etc? It'd be really cool if players could see that data about themselves (I'd be really interested to know the average length of my posts/replies).

Co-#11 and single, ladies.

Seriously though I don't think this is a particularly good idea. Let all contributions stand on their own.

Pyro7/15/2014, 11:27:55 PM2 votes

Top post: "Too dark for me".

Could you guys rather make a roundup of the most interesting discussions from the week? It's not just the amount of upvotes, it's also the quality of the discussion itself. Sometimes responses can be better than the original posts.

If you don't have the time to handpick the content, design moderators who will do it for you. I know I could :P
