Why exactly is the boards formatted the way it is?

I wasn't around during the time of the other forums system, but the one we have currently doesn't totally make sense to me.

The side bar, I think, is great and is actually organized very well. I do however think there should be a link to set in support tickets, because there are many times that players will make boards posts instead because they have been told falsely that support tickets don't do anything. I also think there should be a "Favorited" tab (I will go into detail on this later).

The post creation format is really good. Nothing really needs changed in my opinion, however there should be an easier way to link or insert gifs and pictures. Also, the toolbar for bold, italics, etc etc often overlays over the text, and it is sometimes hard to select text that is behind it. It would be better to have the bar further down next to the "Posting as (blank)" bar.

When commenting and viewing threads, I feel there also are some difficulties or problems. First of all, you should be able to favorite a thread personally so that you can go back and view it from a list (it would be on the sidebar as previously mentioned). This way, you don't have to search for threads you didn't comment on but viewed if you want to show them to a friend or simply reread them. Also, you should be able to see a persons rank (toggle-able). This way, boards members can better decide whose opinions in the gameplay section might be more reliable, and would save the trouble that players are already doing by looking up someones stats.

The boards front page and other tabs are really disorganized. The only way I can think of the cut down on the amount of posts that just eventually are ignored or downvoted, is to add a new report thread option for "nonconstructive". I think this is REALLY needed for all of the constant threads of people saying "X CHAMPION IS OP", which then have a body that says nothing but "delete the champion". This isn't constructive, and isn't doing anything. The boards is supposed to be a way for us to express peoples opinions and talk with Rioters so that we have representation in the boards. These threads just clutter it up and make the really good threads that make good points get lost and never seen by people.

I can say with complete honesty that of all the games I play right now, League has the worst community forums by a long shot. The "Boards" are clunky, entirely user-unfriendly, horribly disorganized and embarrassingly devoid of features. When they switched from the old community forums, I basically gave up posting for over a year. It's was so bad that I assumed they would have fixed it by now. Sadly that's not the case.

The side bar is where you click "player behavior and moderation" for a good laugh.
