[Feedback, Issues, Suggestions and Bugs]: "Show as flat" format discussion

I have lately been using the community beta more and more, and noticed a couple of discrepancies I would like to point out when using the "show as flat" format instead of the nested one. I would like to know if other users have had the same thoughts and if riot is planning to address any of these.

My Feedback:
I think that the flat discussion is coming along nicely, but suffers a number of problems. Part of the problem is that it's being severly seconded to the nested format.

Encountered Issues:

  1. If you are in "show as flat" format and you refresh the page, you lose track of the comment you were at. No hyperlinks are created for you to keep track of the comment or the page.
  2. The "last" button next to the page numbers doesn't get you to the latest comment page. It just jumps a number of pages forward. (bug?)
  3. Show parent button is bugged.
  4. If you click "jump to this comment" button (red comments) while in the flat discussion, it won't do anything. (bug?)
  5. The nested discussion features an upvote/downvote system, but the flat discussion doesn't.
  6. There is no option to edit your comment.

Suggestions:
I would like to offer some suggestions to improve the functionality for the the flat discussion format users.

  1. Add a "go to page" button.
  2. Fix "last" so that it really takes you to the last page of comments. (bugfix?)
  3. Hyperlinking the flat discussion would actually be helpful, but I believe that it can be bandaided by suggestions #1 and #2.
  4. Allow us to search the thread if possible.
  5. Enable upvoting/downvoting for the flat discussion too, as well as comment editting.

If anyone has ran into any issues or has to offer any suggestion please help out!

Hey Borand,

Appreciate the well constructed feedback! I'll do my best to address them for you:

  1. This could be a bug or a 'not working as intended' I will check with the crew. (Note: the hyperlinks are something different, versus losing your place on page).

  2. This is "last" in traditional internet pagination (aka page by page navigation shown through numbered boxes). It means that you will be taken to the last page in the group.

  3. We're aware of this bug and it should be addressed soon.

  4. This is a case of information appearing where the feature isn't supported. That being said, we are looking at how to better handle red tracking within flat view and the solution to that should be implemented in the near future.

  5. There are a couple of things happening with this one, but I'm going to lump this into #4 and let you know we are in the midst of working on handling this better.

  6. We'd like to take a look at this at the same time as #4-5.

**tl;dr: ** we are working on an improved flat view right now that will make more sense and feel more in-line with what flat view should be.
