Feedback on new patcher/client. Hope this reaches @Riot

Hello. I'd like to provide my feedback on the new patcher and client (sorry if using the words wrong).

I'd like to say that while I do like it, I've grown accustomed to the old one and liked its' layout better. (Not meaning to undermine the work you put into it)

Bright Side:

  1. The new design better matches the style league has adopted over the past few years.
  2. You can view content in the patcher instead of having to redirect to the website.

Dark Side ("Rant" if you want it that way)

  1. I don't like that I can't view my friends' status in the chat bar.
  2. I don't like that I can't view my friends' profile from the chat window.
  3. I don't like how "Play" became "Launch" in the patcher (:P)
  4. I feel like the little tiles/windows take too much space and add too much visual noise at both the patcher and the client.

Suggestions and ideas:

  1. Please revert the chat bar behaviour, it has lost simplicity now :(
  2. Perhaps allow us to reallocate the tiles/windows (e.g. featured matches) however we like in the patcher? Or remove/minimize the tiles/windows we don't want?

Thing I'd like to see but I guess it won't happen: Old patcher layout with the new tech of the new patcher.

Thoughts guys?

If you want to provide feedback to a change, make sure to give it some time first. Everything is simple when its been around for a while and everything seems complicated at first glance.

Id say this discussion could happen in a week from now

The layout is definitely strange to me, especially the launch option. The Launch button is in a downright awkward spot; almost every game with a launcher I've ever played has had its launch button at the bottom right, and this is not a welcome change

As for the patcher "Launch" change, you don't play anything with the patcher, the patcher launches the game. This makes sense to me.

It feels very cluttered.

Having the status indicator on a player's name/chat window is VERY helpful and I am very sad to see that feature removed.

Much like when youtube redesigned their homepage, the new landing page is very full and busy and as such, makes it harder to focus on each item. Providing a little empty space to separate topics/items on the landing page would allow for more focus and peace of mind while looking at it.

Overall, the design theme is nice. I appreciate the simplified style, I just don't think the "no negative space" quality of it adheres to the ultimate goal of "clarity."
