@Riot - you need to implement a time limit on thread posting.

Spam bots are running rampant on your less-moderated boards right now, especially on GD.

This spammer in particular has been posting the same threads for over a week now with no signs of slowing down. From what I can tell, it's someone trying to make the website advertised look bad and stir up drama for no reason.

This was done in the span of about half an hour. It's not photoshopped or manipulated; if you go on GD right now, you'll see every single thread they've made on the first page still. You guys NEED to put in some preventative measures, or else these forums are going to be taken over.

The solution is incredibly simple - just put in a time limit on how many threads a user can make, say, one thread every hour or half-hour. This would basically eliminate spamming entirely, and would do almost no damage to actual forum-goers - almost nobody posts threads THAT frequently.

Please Riot; I'm begging you. Stop these people from ruining your forum.

Honestly, this is something that we may need to do sooner rather than later. For the most part, Moderators have been catching people spamming within a couple minutes of them doing so. Unfortunately, because there's no cool-down time on posting, a 5 minute delay can result in dozens of posts. I haven't seen more than a handful of times when this has happened. Is this really as catastrophic a problem as this discussion makes it sound?

I mean I don't know what you expect from the cancer that is GD Shit like that is bound to happen. Then Riot will fix it. And then it'll be something else. And the cycle continues. You'd probably be better off abandoning ship

Simplest fix in the god damn world and he still doesn't want to that. Tamat pls.

Hey now, if Rito "automated" anti-spam procedures COMMONLY FOUND ON EVERY OTHER FORUM ON THE WEBBERNET, they might have to lay off some of those professional moderators they employ to ... whatever it is that they do.

Nobody has so much of value to say on the forums that they cannot wait 120-300 seconds between new threads.

This kind of spam is what ruined Dawngate(rip)'s forums.

Should be a limit on how many threads you can post with the same title and content within a certain timespan. Doesn't look like Tamat cares, though.

as to the nature and culture of GD it is far less moderated than the other boards. If this were to happen on any other it would quickly get taken care of. The GD board itself was made to satisfy the GD community that spoke out so strongly against the changeover. That is why it is formatted differently than the other boards. I don't mean to demean the community they have made, but this occurred in the old GD which is why I am not surprised it is happening now.

So what you're saying is Riot doesn't care about GD?

possibly.

Jingerbeardman11/25/2014, 4:58:05 AM1 votes

I didnt say that. What I meant was that the GD community itself spoke out heavily about the moderation on the new boards which is why it is a bit more carefree and what some might say trollish compared to the other boards and feels like there is a little more wiggle room. Stuff like spamming topics was considered funny at times in old GD which might be why stuff like this isn't taken care of right away. I also do not speak for Riot, so yeah.

Third night in a row now.

Fourth night running now; more shock images.

But it's definitely not a problem and I'm just making a big deal over nothing. Tubgirl is totally okay apparently.
