Why is there no Off-topic sub-community?
Why isn't there a sub-community for people to just talk about whatever?
Why isn't there a sub-community for people to just talk about whatever?
We're trying to be careful to not create another General Discussion.
Is it because of the off-topic/inane threads that get posted there often or is it the vulgar ones?
General Discussion has a tendency to draw everyone in and hurt other topics, look at current forums. creating a sub community without specific uses leads to these. And since the front of the community has topics from all of the places they don't need it all to be from off topic.
This is a new tool for the community. Let's try to see what we can discuss before we start flooding it with spam. :)
Because Riot doesn't want to babysit.
To my knowledge they're planning to expand the list once the platform goes live. They're still missing Off Topic, Clans & Recruitment, Bug Reports, PvP.Net Feedback, etc.
Since this platform is still in Beta, I guess that they want to limit the sub-communities in order for moderation and control to be easier on their staff. They also have the original forum to manage, still.
I think that the proof will be in the data collected once this platform extends past beta. Will people continue posting topics that have no relevance, despite off-topic no longer existing? It'll be an interesting thing to find out.
At the very least, this platform does by nature remove the threat of unrelated content taking over the front page (assuming off-topic posts do not get massive upvotes).
