"So sad...you are not authorized"

-keeps clicking the up/downvote button till it works-

"Now I am..."

So I don't understand. What am I not authorized with and why does spamming the button suddenly authorize me to upvote(or downvote?) someone?

Also somewhere in the guidelines, may I suggest a clearer explanation for the purpose of the vote system?

Sometimes I see completely neutral comments that veers to no particular side of an argument get downvoted for simply not being negative/positive enough about the subject at hand.

For instance, do you up/downvote someone because you like/hate them? Do you vote to agree/disagree? Do you vote because you find the post funny?

SO I didn't know you had to spam the button, that seems so unnecessary.... But yea some people do vote because they think a post is cute/funny/they agree with sorta thing.

Voting because a post is cute/funny shouldn't be why you vote for something you should vote for it because its something you agree with.

For example if I say "Master Yi is a useless champion" and you disagree you should down vote. If you agree you should up vote.

If we are talking about Master Yi and someone comments "I just farted" some people might find that funny. But its off topic and useless to the discussion. Thus you should down vote it.

One last example lets say we are talking about Master Yi specifically if he is a good or bad champion and why. Then someone posts "Master Yi is good because he farted" yes the guy is talking about Master Yi so he is on topic but the post adds nothing to the conversation. This should be down voted funny or not.

(using fart as a lame example of a simple joke.)

I thought the point of voting was to hide toxic/abusive posts and help the informative ones shine. That just attests to how much of an explanation we really need here about it.
