On Quoting system

I am sure people are working on this, I'd like to point out one of my specific problems with it... BTW this is not a true complaint thread I put this up to address a problem in hopes to get feedback and a fix for it.

So I see many Quotes ( the block of quoted text in a different color ) many times I have already read the original quote and see that is has been altered in some way to make it seem a different context then it was posted in.

1.) Can we have it so the quote links to person that made it ?

I tried on another discussion to point out one way I see people manipulate the system by putting part of the op's statement up and part of mine. Then I asked if anyone could tell it was a quote from 2 different posters.

This makes it to easy for some people to make arguments about ( especially red posts ) certain discussions and leads to misinformation. I assume there are other ways to misuse this although I have yet to bother to try..

Is it just me or does this annoy other readers ....repeat When Quotes are altered to start arguments ?

I agree. Linking and noting the quoted person would be a great feature. Take the Starcraft 2 forum for example, you can highlight the text of a post and a "quote" button will appear. Great for referencing. At the moment, it all looks random. Not knowing where quotes come from restricts context and decreases efficiency. In my opinion this is a must-have feature. The feature does exist here, I've seen it used by Riot staff, however there's no way for us to use it.

I understand it can be exploited. E.g. "Quote by ArcticHorizon: I'm a stinky poo poo head" but that's a really minor issue. Especially if the only way to reference is to have a link to the quoted post.

I was just in a thread ( 12 hrs. ago ?) that turned ugly, someone took a quote of what I originally said and added someone else s quoted opinion and people were coming at me. I don't think in this circumstance it was done intentionally.

It took me a bit to straighten out what had happened but in the meantime things were said that could have been offensive. Certainly, posts got confused and for the next 10 or so posts it was difficult to understand what people were really saying. :)

I believe I got confused and questioned someone's opinion believing that it was directed at me before I realized what had happened and started to just ask " What is it you mean?" in various ways, getting called 'stupid' in the interim.

Just putting this out there.... And again I do trust this is just a minor glitch as yet.
