Thank You So Very Much Riot !!! Every time I see someone complain about punishments...

....I think Thank You Riot for being a stand up company. You are making ground breaking measures about how these games are going to be done in the future. I like how you are going about trying to both incorporate the players wishes about Toxic Behavior while doing something novel and real about it.

Every time I see one of those post that say "I'd rather have a time out" then a chat restriction I inwardly applaud you. Is the system flawless, welp No it isn't...But Riot is working on it. It is changing to meet the demands of it's player base.

As for those of you who think the chat filter and mute button is a reason to be a Jerk. Well, again I point you to all the Riot you suck posts. I hope for the longevity of League Of Legends, they continue on the path they are headed. Just because you are on the internet it doesn't give you the right to say anything Nasty thing you feel like.

What happened to Sportsmanship and cooperation ? LOL is a Team sport...learn it, know it, deal with it...or get punished. I hope LOL keeps up the good work..BRAVO to you. !!!

That's incredibly stupid. The report system is horrifically flawed. It has nothing to do with the actual offenses anyone does; it just punishes you for being reported consistently.

Riot's pretty lenient on their punishments and they detest having to ban people. I lose my temper sometimes, but I've never even had a warning. So if someone's been toxic enough to have their punishment reach the level of a ban, I don't want them coming back into the matchmaking pool on a fresh account. They can just go somewhere else for all I care.

Thank you here I agree with you almost ..almost completely.

Now if only it could stop them from just making a new account when they get banned and polluting the leveling experience.

Still I have that ever present question, why does anyone feel the need to be a "Jerk" in game ? Really I want to know why someone should shut the chat off because YOU are being an ASSHOLE ??.... Yeah I know I lost my credibility just now but I don't care I want to know what sets people off,,,,??

Can anyone make sense of it ?

I think Riot should have a team (or maybe they do) that review cases submitted from a number of reports.

To further increase the effectiveness of this method, they need to show the community who got banned for what. Like they need to make a weekly announcement of the players banned/chat restricted/etc.

Everybody knows that from when they're were a child, when a child witnesses a punishment/discipline, that child will learn not to do it. It's a common method of (you can say) intimidation. Police uses it. The media uses it. Television shows and cartoons uses it.

Countless times when a player knows he is going to be reported, they will respond with "w/e, nothing's gonna happen" and honestly, nobody knows that and majority of the players probably do think nothing IS going to happen.

So to show the community that Riot is on the move and punishing people, players will naturally stop misbehaving because of intimidation.

Watch any televised sports game and if punches are thrown, who gets ejected? 9 out of 10 times it is the person who threw the second punch that gets ejected.

See I agree with you..and it is ashamed that this is the reoccurring theme. I Hate bullies and believe Riot could do more about this problem...thing is they need time to do this. I have and will always call out bullies and I will not apologize for it. But, if a person takes a bit of time and looks stuff up they will see Riot working very hard on this problem.

It's nice to see a post like yours. Anyone who has been complaining in this thread didn't learn to properly ignore bullies when they were growing up. They feel that since someone hurt them, it is ok to hurt someone back.

Thank You for this!!! What I want to put forth the most is Riot is Trying and if we all state our real opinions they can do a better job at this...and while we mostly agree about things it Doesn't make other points invalid. I would like to see both sides of the situation talked about ..EXCEPT That I insist that people respect what others say even it they don't agree....

Just curious to know why I am getting down voted ? I don't mind so much but I'd like to know why you disagree with my op ? I am willing to listen to you !

nerak233/20/2015, 7:03:24 PM1 votes

The people who act up online are selfish. They don't care that they're upsetting others (or that is their goal), and often play the victim when they are penalized for their behavior. It doesn't matter if the penalties are known in advance. Because it's them, they feel they should be able to avoid the penalties. Entitlement reigns.

Wow, your post touched me. The whole thing not just what I quoted. And I got to say really Ty for sharing this... your first statement though,

It's the lack of expected consequences.

I ask You and anyone who might be reading... what do you think can be done about this? I'd say hit punishments harder the first time, but after listening to one of Lytes seminars I really consider that Riot is taking so long on such things as the Tribunal because they want to get it correct.

I'd also say That Now IS the Time to Say What You Think !!!!! Take a moment of your time and chime in on the subject !!! I for one may not agree with whatever anyone has to say but it is important for Riot to see you opinion,,, Take a min. and Tell me what you think !!! I'd also like to say Please add to this thread if you think it has a tiny chance of making a difference...I can tell you one thing for sure,,,I will read ;)

Better Communication.

Okay, okay, it won't work for everything, obviously. But if Riot can find a way to more effectively communicate to the community at large what behaviors yield what punishments, the expectations of consequences will increase for at least most players.

And if nothing else, it'll minimize that whole "victim" mentality. Which will/should be further weakened by the return of the Tribunal and its Reform Cards.

This is a good post :) What I'd like to stress is The communications with the average player. Because be honest most players don't post here,,, and Yes I know they have Reddit. I just today joined, however I feel like I should have access to information right here on the boards. I am not so much as complaining about Reds lack of posts here but wishing they would join in more even if it is to say ' Hey, we are aware of the problem but I don't have the information'.

Having said that I have seen Riot staff Trying to talk to us!! Especially on GD. And I have to say about GD some things....

It is a hard place to post in and have a complete conversation.

They have a lot of 'private jokes' or info going on. Most average person would not understand what is going on in that part of the board unless they spent a LOT of time reading each thread.

This brings me to a thing I believe Riot Staff should be aware of even more then they seem too... I believe they should have people involved in GD, persons who post there, read most posts... to Mod there. and that does Not seem to be the case. I have seen a lot about player/mods and I am just not sure this is the correct way to go it...But ;))) I have been known to be wrong in the past..

AnyWays this goes to Better Communications Jubbinaut I'd like to speak to you about some things if you'd be open to that ?

Winterglow : as I can't use the quote button at this point, I will just simply ask you ...Why do you think Riot is' Perpetuating toxicity via banning people for sticking up for themselves" ??

I call BS and say what you can't do is be an ASS back and insult rage at anything you think is Toxic..What you Can DO and I and other Do all the time is fight toxic comments without being Toxic ourselfs...What most people believe is realistic is not what you seem to hear when you quote others...I put this up as a copy paste Of what you said previously:

Winterglow (NA) submitted 17 days ago in Miscellaneous I remember Lyte gave the example of what to do when someone is toxic:

: HEY DERP FACE U SUCK

: Alright class, when someone is being toxic like that to you, simply say: "THAT'S NOT COOL."

: BUT YOU SAID "NOT," AND "NOT" IS A NEGATIVE WORD.

: ...you're right. I'll have to think about that one. Any suggestions?

: Just say "COOL!"

: Perfect! Okay then, when someone is flaming you non-stop, just say, "COOL!"

: BUT WOULDN'T THAT SEEM SARCASTIC? THAT'S NEGATIVE TOO.

: ...you're right again. Perhaps we'll just have to ban everyone then, regardless of what they say.

: GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!

Yep Banning Jerks if just fine...but again you misunderstood: Lyte is actively Anti perma ban -- go look it up !!

I do believe this statement to be true but only to an point. A few months ago I'd have agreed completely with you and even now I don't disagree. However, after researching what Riots thoughts are about it I have to think that they are on to something better.

1st it is against Riots policy to name and shame so they are not likely to do that. What they want to do is change players perception and that is so much better in the long run. I meant what I said about the company is doing new things that Will change gaming history. I don't state this lightly, as I have some experience in company relations.

Well, I started to write more and realized my opinion is NOT that important...What is important is that that all of us stand up to bullies and "Jerks" and Asshates or W/E you name them and publically shame them every chance we get. I mean by that, be nice but firm...say your opinion but don't judge...Live and Let live, but still don't let people put up on this format that it is OKAY or NORMAL or be Dicks !!!

That's incredibly stupid. The report system is horrifically flawed. It has nothing to do with the actual offenses anyone does; it just punishes you for being reported consistently.

Did I say anything about how the report system works?

nerak233/20/2015, 2:22:11 PM1 votes

Oh okay. So now being "disliked" by random people is against the rules? didn't know that.

By my opining statement maybe it is though... I don't want to insult you but... I had said that Riot is trying to accommodate the player base and if the majority of your teammates and opponents think you need a report then maybe ??

But that really wasn't the point of this post. AFK I have seen you post and understand more then you might think. I did not direct this post at you or anyone else, so I don't understand why you brought up reporting. But, if you'd like to vent and say please do :)

nerak233/20/2015, 3:26:00 PM1 votes

Wait a min... This is Not what this post is about !!! It is about Riot doing the right things to learn about how to run this game respectively and trying to accommodate its player base.

Stop arguing about what this post is not about !!

The point was hahaha to have all the buthurt assholes who complain to put a post up !!!!!!!

NOOO, Really it is about respect in it's most basic form and no one yet has seen this for what it is.

nerak233/20/2015, 3:51:14 PM1 votes

Just like Leaverbuster, Riot wants you to be treated the same whether you actually were toxic or it just looked like you were.

Not True and I ask any Rioter or anyone else with some gumption to speak up. AFK I have been nice up to a point, do you want to go back and review what you have said about stuff on here ? Or would you like to talk about it and maybe > get somethings noticed and done?

I may not agree with you at all points but at times you have some valid things to say...lets stick with that and stop DERAILING my Thread @@@!!!!!!
