Why can't I be Toxic to a troll, that is what the Mute feature it for !

Well No the mute is there to stop the escalation of a situation and not a reason to be a Jerk yourself. Just because it is there it is no excuse to behave rudely, And No people who use it are not cry-babies, sensitive kids, or whatever you choice to call them. It is not an excuse for you to be a rude insensitive entitled bully.

You can choice to fight toxic behavior with toxic remarks and it will eventually end badly for you. Or you could choice to be the bigger person and deal with it in a constructive way. Most people get upset and say things because they are having a bad game (or day). By saying nasty things back it only inflames the problem and gives the other person/s an excuse to keep it up.

Other ways to deal with it include but are not limited to:

Ask nicely Once--lets not do this today, no need to talk like that...ect. ( it doesn't always work but seldom hurts )

Divert the angry players such as:

MIA Ash alt down. Garen Tp down for 1:20..My ult up in 30 They are grouping Whatever it is I could go on and on but by putting helpful comments on like this can go a long way to settle things.

You don't have to engage the rager to defend yourself every time !! It doesn't make you like cool or tough or smart..It makes you look toxic. In short, if you have to be Toxic to your teammate for any reason, YOU are toxic..sorry for you, and shame on you.

Totally agree with you OP. I see a lot of people on here talking about "Standing up fort themselves" because that is what they would do in real life. The problem here is, they don't know what that person is going through, and to think the best way to combat it is by using the "fight fire with fire approach" it ultimately turns into "fight fire with oil and make things worse" approach.

Came in expecting to have to counter-argue, pleasantly surprised.

But I have to defend myself, if I don't retaliate to a troll with equal or greater force I'm showing weakness!

Completely agreed, OP. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to respond to a troll in kind; it would be like some dude yelling at me from across the street and me yelling back, which is doubly annoying for everyone else around.

I was ready to downvote you, but then bothered to read that the thread was the opposite to the title. You might want to put them in quotes so it reads as if you're quoting someone else and it isn't your opinion!

+1 for people's self-control, tho.

I think often people feel they have to defend themselves from ragers because other team mates often jump on the bandwagon. They take the silence of the person being attacked as agreement that he is a such-and-such for being bad, making a mistake.

Nothing good can come of picking on a team mate.

When you have a rager, even if he's not raging at you put him on ignore. It is better for the team. Don't add to the situation by giving any sort of validity to his raging and please, don't tell him you're putting him on ignore before you do so.

The thing is the way I talk on these boards or irl is much different then in-game, I simply will not engage the toxic person for much more then politely asking them to stop. Some games I will go out of my way to complement the person getting flamed on who is Not talking back. I don't believe that insulting people while they try to concentrate on the game is helpful in anyway.

With so many threads going up about how person X is innocent because they defended themselves is getting to be to much, people are using it as an excuse. This bothers me especially when the player then say Riot is singling them out and just plain saying Riot is lying...I feel like this is spreading a bad president.

I'd like to ask a question to you fine folks. There have been a number of people that after posting a complaint thread and going off the deep end, later they have added me in game to talk about what they can do to better their behavior. My OS is basically the things I can think of to help them...Does anyone have any more advice to help control the anger and raging that a player who really is trying to reform can do ?

you can be toxic to the troll if you want, and rile both teams into a froth. then the intentional feeding begins, and things spiral out of control. false reports are given while honor is not and the toxicity reaches a zenith in the post game chat, right before everyone leaves and no longer gives a fck
