I'm not getting shown my notifications anymore

I don't know if this intentional or not, but the spot that used to show me my notifications and such isn't even there anymore. if someone comments on a post I make or anything like it, I have no way of knowing without manually going back, finding it, and checking for comments. either way, it's kind of annoying and would love if it could be fixed.
