Just Banned Aurelion Sol

First game on League in over a week. I enter a League match and ban Aurelion Sol, despite a player wanting him. Sorry, I don't want a champion released today to be in my ranked matches. Not a second later, two players on my team begin calling me retarded, autistic, and they steal my role and then intentionally feed. I don't see that happen in SMITE tho (of course it was the mid-laner and adc being toxic too)

Trust me, with behavior like that, if you had let them have Sol, they would have tilted and thrown the match over something else anyway.

Honestly, I don't blame you. I've done this before, sometimes I ban yasuo away from teammates too when I look them up and they have a 34% winrate and a ton of deaths constantly. It's your ban you can do what you want with it imo.

While it's not nice of you to not talk it out before you make the final decision, it's just another issue players have to resolve between themselves. Their ways of retaliation, on the other hand, isn't acceptable. Report and move on.

In terms of outcome of the game tho, I'd say all of you are to blame. You have your reason to lose faith in new champ's performance in ranked due to ppl's lack of understanding and familiarity with it and I agree with you, but a good approach would be something like explaining your reason and reaching a point of compromise between both sides. Even if those ppl didn't retaliate the way they did, it's still going to leave negative impact and cause discord among the team.

Maybe it's because I haven't suffered as much as you did, I'd give ppl benefit of the doubt and let them do w/e. I mean, faker walked into a tournement when he played reworked gankplank for the first time, fired his Q at his 1st E barrel (next to him) followed by placing 2nd E barrel (next to his opponent) after the shot, hoping to trigger 2 explosions, and casters laughed about it. He still stomped that game.

My personal take on it is generally its a dick move to ban someones pick intent, HOWEVER new champ release is the only time I would say go ahead and ban it all you want regardless of whether your team-mate wants to play it.

Even if they can play it to perfection it doesnt mean the 4 other people on their team have a clue about what the champion does and how it works. How can they be expected to play as a team with an ally they know nothing about. They cant follow up on engages they cant anticipate or might overestimate sols ability and get aced. They might even not know the basic skills sol has on day 1. This goes doubly true if the enemy is first pick and also doesnt ban as they will more than likely first pick it away anyway.

You always have the right to choose a champion YOU want to play but you do have to consider your teammates too. Picking something that will just throw off your entire team synergy because its new and shiny isnt really fair and justifies banning the champ imo.

if you ban my champ, you are getting trolled. period.

if you are afraid then dodge but if you ban someone's pick it is not going to go well 9 times out of 10

Banning in ranked is fine, but its banned in normals all the time as well, and its just dumb. If people wont let you play the new champions, why even release them? Its a huge issue where people are just like "new champ, lets ban it purely because people want to play it". I've queued up for probably 20 normals where its banned every single time, and its frustrating cause i just wanna try him out, and going to blind and autolocking just pisses people off, so please bring back teambuilder so we dont have to wait a week to play a new champion.

Your ban is your own. I have banned "OP" champs from my teammates when they are not first pick. However keep in mind that this will make your teammate very salty and prolly cost you the game.

No matter how intelligent you try to be, throwing insults into it just devalues the entire thing. Making yourself look childish and/or petty is counter-productive to your intent, is it not?

This goes for a lot of people who try to present arguments, or even just singular points, on this board.

I just had a game where someone banned Sol after I 'requested' him. I reported the player after my match. He said "You'll thank me when I carry you"- but he didn't thank me when I was the only one who ended with an S- or higher.

Banning Sol right when he comes out is toxic. People can't even have a chance to try a new champion without some self-entitled worm whining about losing the game. No- you lose games because you pick fights with your team mates you fucking loser. Who does that? Counter-picking an ally's choice is griefing the team. Or assisting the enemy team. Enjoy your bans, that's all I have to say.
