I lost my temper for the first time in game today
Usually I just mute people who are annoying me, but today I couldn't help typing "Fuck off" before the mute. Are those two words enough to get me punished? I hope not...

if that's all, you won't be punished even if reported
it's a lot harder to be punished if you are normally not toxic than some people like to think. There are leniences built into the IFS for the rare (emphasis rare) occasional outbursy.
As zPOOPz said, you're virtually still in the green. Rare outbursts of negative responses or mild inflammatory chat won't skyrocket you to a punishment. You're a tick closer to one, but as long as you keep doing your best to avoid further slips, you should be fine.
Kei143 - a regular on the PB boards, has a pretty good (if rough) explanation for how punishments tend to get delivered;
Here's how the system works:
- Receive report(s), number of report doesnt matter
- Automated system reviews the reported person
- Automated System assigns a toxicity score to that person (no toxicity = 0 pts)
- The new toxicity is added to the existing toxicity score.
- If a person passes 100 pts, they get punished.
(also, Kei143, if you happen to see this, pardon if the quote is a little unflattering, I'm pretty sure you've explained this in a little more detailed fashion, but this was the most recent example and I am a detestably lazy man.)
But, yeah - provided you haven't been noticeably negative and that this outburst doesn't mark an unfortunate trend, your "toxicity score" should remain fairly low and decrease after some number of games. All said, there shouldn't be any immediate fear of punishment.
