It's not possible to get banned for off meta picks, right?

I know there are outliers like the teemo and singed support that actually did get banned, and that worries me. But for a regular person not playing ranked, it should be fine, right? Bit of context: A goal of mine, that isn't going to get fufilled with the amount of champs that come out, but it's something to work towards anyway, is to get every champion to mastery 7. The catch? I only play support. Regular supports are obviously fine. I've had a bit of backlash from teammates when I get a bit more offmeta, like when I was working on Ashe, Orianna, and Kayle. But those champions can still support fine, play them right and they can be pretty effective! But what happens when I run out of champs that are supports? Is something like Akali gonna wreck my account?

teemo and singed support didn't get banned for playing teemo and singed support. they got banned because they were playing teemo and singed support to troll their team.

riot doesn't care what you play as long as your intention is to win

go as karthus adc if that's your thing

edit: adding this just for completionism sakes. i once asked a rioter if ultimate bravery is allowed and he said yes.

You can play offmeta supports, if anyone has a problem with it they can just dodge when they see it in champion select.

The reason the Teemo and singed got banned (deserved) is cause they queued up for support, and aren't in lane for the entirely (or almost) of the laning phase.

You'll be 100% fine even if idiots mass report you.

You will not be banned for playing off-meta. You also will not be banned for doing poorly while doing so.

Riot only cares if there's at least a good-faith attempt. As Sinful said, the singed support and teemo support weren't banned for playing off-meta - It was blatant trolling and the "off meta" was only a paper thin excuse.

No, you can't be banned for playing off meta picks. Leona top, Morg jungle, Lethality Ashe mid. Doesn't matter as long as you are playing the role. The issue with the Teemo/Singed (counter jungler) supports were that they weren't communicating that they were doing properly and it was at the expense of the person who got 'Bottom' as a role.

Play the role of support (buy the items, ward, stick with ADC during laning) and you'd be fine. Although going to be had to argue for Zed or Kat support unless it's "Death is the best CC."

Should be okay. Riot doesnt really enforce a meta. Wait till you try anivia support, its very fun and effective.

game support said once: U cant be reported for playing bad except u are doing it on purpose for revenge issues on ur team. But if u are just playing bad since the offmeta-selection was a bad one u shouldnt fear any punishment. (well the flamers will still say that they will report u but based on what the support said that report should be without any consequence.)

its not about the picks, it's about the intent

if you pick off meta, communicate to your team what you're doing (and they are cool with it) and try your best to win the game, you will not get punished. period.

The correct anwser is maybe. Due to the support singed and teemo roam picks riot has taken a certain stance. If you accumulate alot of reports due to off meta picks and you dont communicate to your team b4 the game starts what you plan on doing and if they dont agree with it then you can potentially be banned. Which I find a little dumb but its a grey area for sure.

(assuming you're playing as a pure support including building support and not going for direct damage and playing to help your adc) The champs you will be hard flamed for are ones without any sort of reliable or consistent cc or utility such as these: Qiyana Quinn Garen Shyvana Jayce Kalista Kaisa Khazix Lucian Illaoi Twitch Vladimir Kassadin Talon MasterYi Akali Corki Draven DrMundo Olaf Nidalee KogMaw Katarina Azir (only ult has cc which is unreliable) Gnar (only ult has cc which is unreliable) Fizz (only ult has cc which is unreliable)

By the way just thought of a way to make some of these champs able to support (possibly could make all champs somewhat viable to support) build items that slow enemies through abilities or auto attacks and certain items have actives that slow champions such as these: item 3025 item 3022 item 3116 item 3148 item 3162 item 3742 item 3153 item 3030 item 3143 item 3905

Another item that could be used as like a free qss for ur teammate or blackshield type of item from its passive is this: item 3222

I've been playing mostly Orianna support since season 7. It definitely won't get you banned. He doesn't have 2 million mastery on her but he does outrank me so I would expect his itemization and macro play are better than mine.

There are plenty of champs you can use as support before you need to use assassins as support.

Try the mages first, then tanks.

But at low ELO, anything works.

Have you tried MF support? Her slow is nasty.
