Sometimes this game feels like a hostage situation.

I'll be posting this under "Player Behavior" because I feel like the root of my own negativity in chat is this problem with League of Legends in it's current state.

The game can be decided very early on, way too often. Of course there are supposed to be games where you either stomp or get stomped and that is why the 15 minute surrender was added. But this is happening way too often.

When a player like myself becomes useless in a match and I am not having any fun, I'll be the first to throw up the surrender vote. If there is no way of winning then there is no point in playing in my opinion. However, when is there not at least one or two players with the "Never Surrender" mentality?

I am currently on a restriction right now because I had a "negative argument" with a player in my latest game. While I won't get into the specifics of my personal experience with player report system, I know for a fact that if this game wasn't so unfair and unfun when dreadfully far behind then I would not have opened my mouth.

This is personal to me but I can't help but feel that I'm not alone. Once a team snowballs to a certain point, it is unfairly easy for them to win simply by shutting their brains off and using their lead. It isn't even about the best player on the team anymore, it's about the worst.

When Riot wanted to make the game more team oriented it was supposed to encourage teamfights and assisting players. Instead all it did was create an amplified version of it's most unfun properties and made it happen even more.

I do feel like this belongs under the "Gameplay" board. But my statement is moreso regarding the toxicity the game is inherently spuring on players.

Then maybe your issue is that you give up waaaaaayyy too early without thinking about how to come back.

It's just gold mmr, people suck at macro and throw all the time and comebacks can still happen.

I think you're just giving up too early. There's no such thing as being "useless" in this game. At the very least, your existence helps shift priority and also you can rotate to defend waves that are pushing in. Your attitude of "we lost cuz I'm useless" is precisely that negative attitude.

See, in lower elo and heck even just in general, you can win games from behind. Just cuz you had a bad early game doesn't mean it's decided. All that decides is how DIFFICULT it will be to win the game. Winning from behind is harder because it requires, for one not making the gap in gold larger, and two you need to be able to recognise enemy mistakes to capitalise on them and close that gap in gold. Too many times do I see late game champions with weak early games losing to lane bullies and giving up. Your job isn't to win lane, it's to scale late while the lane bully will eventually fall off. Come backs are possible, you just need to play the game right to achieve them.

If your attitude is that you will lose, you will play to lose the game. That is facts, that is literally what tilt is. Playing worse than your best. And how are you gonna win a game if you aren't playing your best? How are you gonna win a more difficult game if you believe you're gonna lose? You're just gonna make yourself lose. And you can't just give up on your team and hope you win the next game by winning the lottery and having all lanes win. What happens if you lose the next game? Are you going to keep giving up in every game that isn't a free snowball stomp?

That would mean you don't intend on winning 50% of your games, which would mean you don't intend to climb. Take this punishment to evaluate your mental state of games.

If people aren't surrendering it's because they think they can still win the game and they need YOU to contribute to win the game.

It's intentional. Riot chooses to sacrifice the player's individual fun for competitive integrity. The only thing to really say is, if you don't like it, play a single player game.

or a multiplayer game that doesn't punish you for leaving.

I believe you give up too easily. No player is ever useless as long as he keeps playing. Every point of damage (done, shielded, healed) matters. Those people you say have "Never Surrender mentality" are most likely the potential carries for your team and it is those 'ff nao' people who make it harder/near impossible to win. I suggest you take a good look into the mirror and consider your attitude.

I am an ARAM only player so I don't know how difficult it is to turn a Rift game around, but it is quite possible in Abyss to turn a game from 10 kills vs 30 kills and a tower disadvantage into a victory. It is most likely not quite the same in Rift side, but comeback victories are possible there too. Forfeit vote is for the weak and I very rarely vote yes (I occasionally do) since I prefer to go down guns blazing.
