When did the community lose sight of sportsmanship?

For somebody who does nothing but primarily play ranked player behavior needs to be changed. I constantly get games where I have 1-2 players that die once and say "gg games over open mid" and just go afk farm or something to prevent getting AFK'd or "Giving Up" sure you can call it farming so they can get stronger and come back but when somebody is just farming jungle or lanes while your losing nexus turrets there's a problem I won't lie i've been toxic i've done my time and taken my chat restrictions without having any complaints, but for 1-2 people giving up a game completely ruins the game for one team. When the enemy team has an AFK, Troller, or somebody who simply just gives up it also ruins the game for me as I love a close and intense game rather than stomping them into the ground before 20mins... The problem I have found with the low elo community is that they have 0 sportsmanship i'm not talking about honor. Sportsmanship is in every single sport and is taught to players learning new sports and many older players in any type of competitive sports have this. Many players in LoL on the opposing team won't report an AFK or a troll or somebody who refuses to do anything but sit and do nothing to avoid AFK timer. I know this is a hard thing to balance out the only proposition I can come up with is taking a page out of DotA's book. Make them have low priority queues upwards of 10mins placed with other players in low priority.

At the end of the day it's a game and there's really no point to be frustrated but for those of us who love and enjoy the game for what it is and put our hearts into ranked when we do play, please show some sportsmanship... and don't call gg or open mid play it out throws happen in all elo's comebacks happen more than you think.

I would say after Season 3. For your frame of reference my team ( group of actual friends, miss you guys) surrendered to a group of 3 players who had a duo botlane rage quit. They were good players and kept up a formidable defense while consistently stealing neutral objectives. We began chatting with them over the course of the game (afks happened 4mins in) about the problem of afkers and kinda got to know them.

They exausted all thier options even managed to bring down our Toplane inhibitor turret before the wieght of 5 full built champions became to much. We pushed into thier base one last time Duked it out under the Nexus turret. They crumbled to dust 3 Champions dead at thier feet. We got the inhibitor down to 15% health and hit the surrender button. It had 7 HP when our Nexus blew up

They couldn't believe it we joined groups added friends and played some more games.

That was my favorite League memory.

Not my 1 st Penta kill. Not crushing a little loud mouths dreams.

But that act of giving a ranked victory away to a group that Fought harder for it and showed good sportsmanship throughout that entire game.

Don't think it's just LoL. Look at high school sports, for example. People get into fights over whether or not it was a foul, if the shuttlecock landed on the line, or if it went over the net. Sometimes they get physical or verbal over these things. The more competitive something gets and the higher peoples' hopes and spirits soar, the more irritable and prickly they are.
