Players who use "autistic" as an insult aren't punished? What the hell?

I take personal offense when someone goes "you're fucking autistic" because I actually AM autistic (high-functioning Autism), and I've been so ever since birth. And it is something that makes life difficult at times, so when someone uses it like they would use a racial slur, it's rather triggering.

But I NEVER see anyone get punished for using it in that context. That is not kosher.

As someone who has the same thing, I can agree to an extent. However, there aren't enough people who consider it to be offensive. Personally though, I've never really taken offense to it. If anything I just role with it.

I'm sorry for your bad experience but the word is only offensive if you take it that way. When you tell people you're autistic, do you mean it as a bad thing or as a matter of fact? I'm guessing the latter, so take it the same way in the game: "Dude, are you autistic?" - "Yes, I am,thank you for asking." -they won't expect it, and you end the conversation there.

I do know what you mean, most people use it a negative way, but the negative way is NOT like a racial slur as much as it is like "are you stupid", or "are you retarded" (and note that retardation is also a possible medical condition) and as far as I know, calling somebody stupid isn't bannable, so neither should it be to call somebody autistic.

You could put being gay in the same field, because that's also common, people call each other fegs and feggots every other game, but I don't think that's bannable either, unless it goes too far. Now imagine if I got insulted because I'm actually gay and I don't want people to call me that? Plus, personal offence is exactly the thing people SHOULD NOT be banned for, everybody takes personal offense at something. What if I got attacked by a wolf once and I hate wolves, would it be okay for me to report every warwick I see? It would be ridiculous, the same way nobody can know that you're autistic and shouldn't be banned just because it happens to mean a lot to YOU.

In other words, don't turn the meaning of the word into something it's not, it's an insult to your gameplay, not your actual condition.

I've seen it in punished logs, but I've also seen it used less often than a couple years ago.

That said, if you find it triggering, mute that player to protect yourself amd report them after the game so Riot knows there was a problem.

I think the issue you're seeing is that Autism is a medical diagnosis. Slurs that are labeled as and punished as hate speech have no neutral/positive uses.

Autism is usually described as people who do things so differently it confuses the fuck out of normies

weaponized autism is when someone used all the nooks and crannies of their obsession in ways normies can't understand

Dude c'mon you and I both dealt with bullshit our whole lives for having autism, but fuck turning into those assholes.

just let people swear

Yeah, it’s wrong. I saw a streamer I liked use it and then was really bummed out.

Well you never see anyone get punished, unless you get the message that a player you reported has been punished- which is rare. I've always been under the impression that using that word as an insult is actually escalated, and considered "hate speech".
