Am I wrong? Any opinions?

So I'm the kind of person who doesn't really like to consistently be called "retard", "bitch", "dogshit", "moron", even if it's by a friend. I don't like friendships/people who consistently use those terms even if they say they're "joking". I honestly feel that at a certain point it gets old. I've noticed that the more people I've hung around who do that the more toxic I feel and I don't like it. Am I being overly sensitive? People IRL don't talk to each other that way, I haven't even heard good friends talk to each other than way nor have I had a good friend who talked to me like that. Personally I don't mind a little of it but when it's an ongoing thing and people will even refer to me as "retard" rather than my name it just feels demeaning and like they have no respect for me. It makes me like them less even though I don't always show it. Any thoughts/opinions?

I'm the same way - if you're going to make the game less fun for me, I'm not going to play with you. I don't think you're wrong at all.

Yeah, I knew some people who take a joke too far.

It depends on how good you know them and how you refer to them. For example I call a couple of friends ingame Apes or even sort of flame them but it is always going both ways because it is not even fun if the other is not calling you smart insults as well. Just let them know you don't like it and that they should stop. I even call my best friend the worst kind of insults but only when we are alone because I wouldn't want others to respect him less. But it is always both ways and it is a way we both have fun. At some point when we were younger we had an ongoing joke of banging eachother's mother for 2-3 years until it got old. P.S. I am 26 now and still think it is funny but only with people you are really familiar and comfortable with. P.S.2 The word retard is not only insulting but it is really insensitive towards a whole group and should never under any context be used to insult. Imagine if you call someone a retard and he has a sibling/kid with disabilities. Really not cool under any circumstance or context.

Words are neutral. They are a tool to attempt communication. It is the intentions that may be malicious, not the words.

From that perspective, one should never become offended by any particular word.

Furthermore, two angry people is worst than one angry person. If someone is trying to insult you, they are angry. Responding negatively means you are now angry also. Don't respond at all and only they are angry. Respond positively and maybe no one is angry anymore.

I talk to plenty of people irl like that, not friends, but people who drive past me in my professional job, who almost kill me daily due to their brain being switched off while behind a multi-tonne death machine.

So I really am de-sensitized to it all. I also don't keep company of friends who talk to each other like that, generally. I reserve that type of language for people I hate or come across who are deserving of that type of language.

Evidently, to my perm ban, that also includes people on this game who intentionally fucked with everyone's ability to enjoy the game. Even then I never really used Retard per se, mostly just phrases like chimp.
