You know what might make people enjoy the game more?

Is if people would stop taking it so seriously. And no, I'm not talking about the people that rage at others when they lose lane or when someone feeds, I mean the people that refuse to surrender in every game they play no matter what the situation.

Yes, the virtue of the last stand or putting your all into what looked like a lost cause and overcoming impossible odds is a great thing and it can feel exhilarating when you do it but people are not designed to be capable of going through that situation over and over and over again for every single game and every bad situation.

Putting 20 minutes into a game is already a lot of time for some people that have jobs or other responsibilities, some people can't play much and so they just want a couple of games and having their whole experience for an evening be one game that was lost early on due to an afk or someone feeding hard really puts a downer on not just their experience with the game but can do it for their whole afternoon. When someone pops the surrender vote, think about what kind of situation you're currently in. You can't just think about how on paper you can win this game, sometimes people just don't jell together or they have very different ideas of how to win. Sometimes the morale of your team has tanked right from the start and two people are spending all their time arguing with each other that they aren't playing well and aren't focused and there is no amount of pep talk that is going to change that.

So please think about whether a game is worth putting in the extra effort to win, sometimes it's just better to cut your losses and move on. There's no need to make every game an exercise in attrition that grinds everyone down.

People have the right to surrender or not. That is why it is a vote. People may vote whichever way they choose.

People might also enjoy the game more if competitive players (regardless of skill level) played ranked and non-competitive players played normals.
