The Season of the Troll Support...

So, I've been out of the game for about a month. As such I've been trying to warm up in normals. Apparently that's a mistake. I've queued up for 4 games as ADC today.

First game, got Renekton support. He built full damage (started dorans blade, then went into long swords, etc). He also kept diving into fights only to die immediately because he had zero tank stats (not even so much as a ruby crystal)
Game two, Soraka support. Yay!!!
Game three, Support spews a bunch of profanity during champ select and then picks Vlad. I dodge
Game four, and this is my personal favorite, Support locks in Caitlin... I dodge again, this time after an 11 minute wait in queue.

WTH is happening in this game? Is this the new meta? People pick Support to avoid the longer queue and then play as if they were the role they were hoping to play?

Just got a malz support who went E at level one and spammed it on minions while autoing and got aggressive/vulgar when I asked him to stop.

There's no punishment for it so people will do whatever.

You know what's sad? I used to play support whenever I couldn't get ADC. This season I've had to basically quit playing support because if you put support, or fill for that matter, as secondary, it seems like you play support every game. I'm about to quit playing adc just because I don't want to deal with the ridiculousness that has become bott lane.

I know the new system was supposed to cut down on trolls. But, today at least, it seems like the opposite is happening...

Probably. No one is nice to the support, so no one really wants the glamourless role.

This is why mage supports like Brand and Vel'koz are popular in low ELO (and Lux, my own personal favorite). It's entirely possible to take kills and carry on supports like this (especially in low ELO), so you can actually take over a game and perform in a recognizably good way and prevent flaming from being targeted at you.
