Banned players playing on alt accounts still being toxic, proposed solution.

I wrote this as a response in another post, but let me know what you all think about it.

i'm not a super tech savvy person but I know my way around a computer fairly well and what I'm about to suggest seems feasible to me. Have the game client and riot servers make a note of the mac address of every device that connects to it (I'm sure they already do this) and if an account from X mac address gets banned, then that mac address gets added to a list.

Said list would be considered the "Super ban hammer mega highway" (name subject to change) and would basically be like a super nanny for any pc on that list. mac address X got banned on account X and then an hour later on another account mac address X is doing the same thing that got their other account banned? insta ban for the same amount of time the first account was banned for. The ban would end at the same time the first offending account comes off its ban, and would elevate all of the non main offender accounts to the same disciplinary status as the first account.

It's a good thing you came up with a fool proof system there OP, luckily MAC Addresses can't be spoofed.

Oh, wait. http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-change-mac-address/

But what if you have siblings that play league who aren't toxic and play on the same Wi-Fi as you. It's easier said than done. I do dislike trolls and toxic players but yeah idk man.

Just wanted to say I think this is a really good idea. Better than any of the other "alt toxicity solutions" I've seen on this board.

Nice try but no.

  1. Mac address can be easily changed, and cannot be identified remotely. ARP is a non routable protocol. Sure they can use software to identify it but it can be changed.

  2. Riot doesnt ban PEOPLE vs accounts for "reasons" - no reason to cut off streams of income.

I play at a gaming center where LoL is a major draw. It also hosts League tournements and local teams go there to practice. Mac bans would pretty much destroy the business.

Shared desktops for family members and (and this is the big one) Internet Cafes destroy this idea -- the latter is really important because a huge part of the Asian market connects through PC Bangs and thus shares computers.

what happens if a guy was toxic and got banned in an internet cafe?
