I don't understand why it's okay for people to say any type of insults. Why can't we just be accepting and tolerant, not bigot and ableist? When will we have the speech controlled and moderated Western Hemisphere we desire?

Freedom of Speech was designed so that Americans could spreak openly and freely against a corrupt government without fear of being tossed in Jail. However, people now think it means to say what you want without any consequences.
This is like shouting fire in a crowded building or shouting in a restaurant about how the Chef undercooked/overcooked your food. In the first scenario, that is considered a safety hazard, in the second you are disturbing other people who are trying to enjoy their meal.
You're in full right of your opinions and views, however it does not mean you are allowed to put down, demean, berate others who do not share your viewpoint and thus are free to either leave or ask you to exit especially in an establishment they own. Internet is not America, it's more like Anarchy with some diplomacy, however are run by community-driven ideals.
Think of it as like a private business: you either agree to the rules they set or not.
