Trolls, dodging, good for individual vs good for society conundrum
Let's say there's a troll on your team.
The best thing for an individual to do is to dodge. They only lose 3 lp, no mmr loss and only wait 5 minutes. However it's bad for society because it shows trolls that their tactics are effective which will make them troll even more.
The best thing for society is to not dodge and show the trolls they mean nothing but individually, they lose 20 lp and mmr.
The best systems that actually work in preventing bad behavior are the ones where the good for the individual and the good for the society are the same. Otherwise there will always be a few individuals who would rather screw over society and profit.
Old teambuilder did this. If there was a troll, team captain could kick them with no penalty to the guy getting kicked (so no abuse possible). If someone suspected a troll on their team, or simply suspected that their team comp wouldn't do well, they can leave to find another team. Trolls are not incentivized to troll because if they don't get the lane they want they can just choose to wait longer to find another team. Everyone has a choice and everyone is happy.
