Board-appropriate content deleted for incorrect board

Concepts and creations:

Culture

Think you've got a great new skin or champ idea up your sleeve? Baked a sweet Leauge-theme cake? Drawn a sublime masterpiece you'd like to share with others? Whatever you've cooked up, Concepts & Creations is the place to share and get feedback on your latest League creations and concepts

Clearly this is artwork related.

A post with a new idea for a gameplay change and literally zero artwork or game asset suggestions for Syndra's ultimate does not belong on the concepts and creations board.

Please undelete my post.

The Concepts & Creations sub-Board is actually the home to all player-made concepts and creations, whether it's art, champions, champ reworks, videos, or more. Gameplay is for discussing the current state of the game and potentially offering up adjustments for current kits. When a post is about fully remaking a champion or one of its abilities, or drastically alters the ability, that post is best placed in Concepts & Creations and we direct it there in those cases until Riot decides otherwise.

This is a huge departure from the established etiquette. Syndra is being actively worked on over the last few patches. Suggestions for further changes to her kit are a part of that discussion.

If someone wants Mundo's healing passive to double for 10 seconds everyone he lands a cleaver, stacking 5 times, that is a gameplay suggestion. If someone wants Mundo's cleavers to be twice as large and look like hammers, that is concepts and creations.

If there is an active discussion going on about Syndra's rework then your post is best made in that discussion.

This type of redirect isn't new on our side; it's been like this since the most recent Boards reorganization. If it feels new to you, that's OK. That's why you can ask about it here and get clarification about the removal in this way.

If you feel other posts aren't in the correct sub-Board, use the report button and choose Incorrect Board. We'll review it per Riot's guidelines and make a decision.

Again, our removals are based on what Riot has told us is and isn't acceptable for each section. It is not subject to our opinions.

Nebuul1 votes

Nah, I'm not going to report them. I feel like, by and large, they are all gameplay related. Well, maybe not the one asking for a new game mode for the custom rotation.

My point is that the guidelines available to us, the players, are different than the rules you are using to moderate them. If riot is making you do this stuff, then you should maybe get them to post the same guidelines you go by for us to have here on the boards.

And the feeling this causes is that the moderation is inconsistent and unpredictable. I mean, if someone posted the balance suggestion to alter the passive interaction with an ultimate on a character, I would never in my wildest dreams expect that post to be flagged as "put it in the cakes forum" instead of "put it in the balance forum." It just doesn't make any sense.

By the way, my post you deleted earlier was a change to one part of Syndra's passive, and was not some huge new ability or an all-new power, so even after your helpful comments, I still feel I posted it in the correct forum.

Ultimately we can give feedback to Riot, and you're more than welcome to give that in the correct sub-Board, but it's their decision to change things or not.

I don't doubt that some posts are in Gameplay that shouldn't be. We deal with that every day as, even with a good sized team of Moderators, players post a lot on the Boards and it's always a scramble to keep up with. If something is going to slip through the cracks, we'd all rather it was a post in the wrong section than something much more important. We tend to scrub sub-Boards in waves, so if the post hasn't already gained a lot of traction it will most likely still get removed.

Nebuul1 votes

And would my feedback go under the boards feedback forum, or the behavior and moderation forum? I can see arguments for either board, so I'm pretty sure whichever one I post to, my post will get removed. Which really pisses me off a great deal.

If you're posting about the Culture/Guidelines needing to be updated to more adequately reflect what is and isn't acceptable, then that's fine in Boards Feedback. It's when you're talking about a specific removal or general moderation actions that PB&M is the correct place to post. In the rare case where it can be either/or, we do allow for either/or.

Overall, the last Boards Reorganization was targeted by Riot to make it so that more often than not there is one correct section to place your post in, not counting Misc/GD. In almost all cases, that is true now and has led to a significant decrease in the number of posts we remove and redirect to the proper sub-Board. That being said, this type of remove/redirect still is the number one most common reason for a post being removed on the Boards so there's still room for improvement.

You should delete the fucking culture statements then and write ones that accurately portray the situation.

The moderation team doesn't have the ability to modify any of the Cultures/Guidelines statements, only Riot does. When they feel they want to change them, they will. Until then, we still have to moderate based on what they've told us is acceptable in each sub-Board and what isn't.

To be honest, if you go look at the posts in the Concepts & Creations Board you'll see a wide variety of things outside just art which is what you seem to think was all it was for.

Same thing happened to me! I "drew" a meme out of item icons but it got me a day-long ban for "incorrect board spam" because I did something like it twice. Both got removed. I really don't appreciate Riot punishing me because my content isn't up to scratch for them. MY MEMES CAN BE BAD IF I WANT! Also wtf is with this ban for "spamming"? I post a lot because i'm an active member of the community, so Y U DO DIS RITO

Your memes are allowed to be bad. However, if you keep re-posting something we've removed, that is spamming and will be actioned as such.

Explain to us why you removed his meme then if it is allowed to be bad?

If they keep posting something in a section that isn't for that type of post, then that is spam. So, if a meme gets posted in Gameplay instead of Memes & Games and moderators remove it with a message letting them know which sub-Board is correct for their post but they ignore it and post it in an incorrect section again, that gets treated as spam and removed.

Basically, if you willfully ignore removal messaging for posting in the wrong section, you're now seen as a spammer and we lock that down fast before it ends up in all sections. Again, nothing new but maybe new to you as when we've removed your posts for being in the wrong section in the past, we've only had to do it once.

People can talk about removed threads, this discussion is proof of that. You just have to post in the correct section which is PB&M, not Memes & Games.

You had made multiple posts about a thread being removed in Memes & Games and had made those posts in Memes & Games. You had a post removed informing you that you weren't posting your comments in the correct section. If you had posted a meme, and not posted about posts being removed, then it would have been left whether it was bad or not.

To be perfectly clear: just adding a meme to a post in Memes & Games that is talking about something else doesn't make it OK for that sub-Board. The whole focus of the post has to be a Meme, a Joke/Humor post, or a forum game. Anything else belongs somewhere else.

Chaos6891 votes

It was a joke! The was a (not very funny) joke about a thread being removed! The judgement here seems to be HIGHLY inconsistent...

Plus I don't understand - is it MEMES AND GAMES or is it MEMES THAT RIOT APPROVES OF?

It's for posts that are very clearly Memes/Jokes/Humor/Forum Games in their overall context and your posting pattern. When you post about something being removed once, and we remove that post, then you make another post but tack on a meme, we're not considering it a meme at that point because you've given us a different context based on your previous posts.

Memes & Games specifically as a sub-Board seems to be getting a lot of posts lately that just flat don't belong there but players seem to think it's OK. Under Riot's direction we're currently removing anything that isn't clearly one of the aforementioned acceptable post types to help that section get back on track to what it was intended to be.

Chaos6891 votes

I don't want to *continue the argument any more, but that seems just... wrong. The judgement system appears to be based off of an opinion of previous posts, then, rather than any concrete evidence that this is spam. Anyway, I didn't post the same thing with a meme "tacked on", I made a joke post about a post i'd seen get removed in less than a minute with some art to express how I felt. That is 100% related... Plus, the post was DIFFERENT!

I'd really like it if you could A: Justify the day-long bans for "too much posting" (And also the reason the messages about posts being removed say that it IS NOT A WARNING OR A PUNISHMENT when they apparently are?)

B: Give us a helpful little list of things that can get you reported in-game. (Not related, just something I know a lot of people have wanted for a long time, and hey I'm talking to someone who would know, right?)

It's not opinion at all. If you hadn't just posted the exact same topic in the exact same sub-Board, we would have simply removed/redirected instead of treated it like spam. In terms of removals and the reasons for them, those are all objective decisions based on Riot's directions. We'll make judgement calls on punishments and reduce them from 7-day suspensions to 1-day suspensions if we think it's not worthy, but to be consistent with removals those are based on objective standards.

As I've already reviewed the removal and stated why it was removed, there isn't any more I can say that would make it more clear to you at this point why it was removed that I can tell.

I'm not sure where the term "too much posting" came from as it's not in our messaging, so I'm guessing you're just using your words for what we term spam. As for the messaging you're referring to, that initial removal isn't an official warning, it's just a heads-up. As explained, if you ignore the Boards posting rules and continue to post in incorrect sub-Sections, it's now spam and we treat it as such. Some people get plenty of those type of remove/redirects without any form of punishment because they don't immediately turn around and ignore that and post the same thing in the same place; their other remove/redirects happen over time in different places as they get used to what the sub-Sections allow.

In terms of in-game bans, you're talking to the wrong person. I'm a Boards Moderator and have nothing whatsoever to do with in-game bans. I deal only with the Boards.

Chaos6891 votes

Ok on the last point. But wait... I made two different posts... They were sort of similar, yes, but you're saying that I could've gotten a 7-day suspension for making TWO POSTS at 11 at night? I mean, sure, they were in the wrong board (though I deny the second one), but two posts = a ban? Ok then...

I didn't say that at all actually. I explained when we use objectivity and subjectivity since you were claiming removals are based on opinion.

Chaos6891 votes

So instead the removal is based on whether or not Riot approves the subject of a meme? In that case we can ONLY post memes that don't have ANYTHING to do with other boards? It's memes and games, so I assumed I could post a meme about anything,,,
