Say someone starts being toxic to me, would I get banned for calling them a "cootie queen" and/or a "lint licker" in retaliation.

Edit: This was a meme post. Does no one remember the Orbit commercial?

In general, don't risk insults or things that are obvious attempts to circumvent common insults while still carrying the same intended connotation. We can't give you an accurate answer because this behavior isn't common, but I wouldn't risk my account over it.

You can get penalized in general for any sort of insult. No matter how big or small the offense may seem to you, toxic is toxic. Period. Any kind of retaliation is uncalled for and unnecessary and will be penatlized. Riot roots out toxic, regardless if you or someone else started the situation. If you have nothing good to say, better to say nothing at all.

Riot's game is like reality, words have consequences if not used wisely or appropriately.

Most likely yes you could get banned for it.

Retaliation is not self defense. Don't waste your time with the person who insulted you, they are beneath you. And responding to them only encourages them to say more. If you ignore them then they are more likely to get bored and stop. And you can still retaliate, technically. If you report them after the game then their behavior will be reviewed. If it is punishable then it will leave a mark on their record and eventually lead to being punished.

There's just no benefit to responding to them. And it winds up being worse for you if you do.
