Death Threats

Why isn't there a tool set in place that automatically picks up commonly used phrases to threaten to kill someone, out of the literal game? Some kid who probably didn't think I'd go through with reporting him openly said that he'd kill my mother when I asked him if he was going to kill me for getting a kill that he almost picked up. It may be the internet and maybe I should "grow thicker skin" but when you OPENLY threaten someone....you deserved to be permabanned. Its never that serious that you have to tell someone that you are gonna kill them or a loved one.

If someone types out a death threat to you in the game, report them after the game ends. In the comments, mention what the player said and about when they said it.

Online companies are taking a "zero tolerance" on this kind of thing. I know for a fact that Blizzard will ban you from their game forums and issue a lengthy suspension for the first instance in their games. A second offense and you will find your entire battlenet account locked out and be unable to play any Blizzard game attached to it.

There is no rhyme or reason for ANY person to threaten someone with death in an online game. It will not be tolerated.

One final item: when the Tribunal returns, I'm signing up. If I get any cases where someone types out a death threat, I will recommend the player get the maximum penalty every time. I don't care if Faker himself does it. I will ask that you be removed permanently.

Don't worry. I'll protect you from your abuser. There, there. It's okay.. I know it's a very triggering experience, and you probably have PTSD now, but I just want you to know that I love you, I'm here for you, and I think you're strong, beautiful, and successful, and you have nothing to be afraid of. You can beat this. You don't have to be a statistic.

Report AND send support ticket. I beleive this qualifies for instant 14 day or perma ban but it is ultimately up to riot

You poor thing. Death threats are literally a terrible, horrible thing to have to go through. You need to report this to the FBI cyber-crimes division immediately!

remember, see something say something!

Many comments in game could be perceived in a way that relates to character death instead of real life death which could create a few confusing situations in terms of reportable offenses but I do agree with you

They most certainly do ban on the spot for death threats. I had one last month I think . . told me to go kill myself. I got a message within the hour because I did not play any games after that. They do ban for death threats.

Blizzard's community has had it's really bad moments. There were several months during the "Burning Crusade" expansion where the forums and stuff in the game itself were very toxic. And that's putting it mildly. World of Warcraft was garnering a very bad reputation amongst gamers. A developer for another MMO once said during a press conference announcing their new game "We will not allow out community to become the cesspool that WoW is." That's some bad P.R. right there.

Today, WoW is a little tamer. But the community has really isolated itself despite Blizzard doing what it can to open up the servers. So, being social is often confined to your guild. It makes the game feel "dead" because no one really wants to talk. Trolls and immatures have driven everyone away. Now, even the trolls don't talk.

League is a bit more confined than WoW is. I think Riot has really done as much as they can what with the Tribunal and bringing in behavioral experts to help. I always heard that League's community was far worse than anything WoW could offer. The main difference is that when Blizzard bans you, your game software becomes useless because your game keys are often tied to your battlenet account. If you want to play again, you have to purchase a new copy of said game either digitally or physical copy. Many are not willing to pay money to troll again. League is free to play. If you are banned, even if you've never spent money on skins and such, you can just create a new account and start over.

I heard of the case when in Canada, some mother was watching her son playing multiplayer game (it might have been LoL) and saw somebody threatening other players in chat. She phoned police, they tracked that person's IP and he ended up in jail. So yeah. it is quite serious.
