So how does leavebuster work?

And is there an plans to change it? a friend of mine got leavebuster, but then some stuff was going on so he couldn't play,a week later its still there, max leavebuster is 20 minutes. you have to WAIT TWENTY MINUTES,for five games in a row! so for leaving 2-3 games you can be forced to wait an hour and forty minutes, thats literally like at MOST an average of 3 games your missing out on,if you don't land in some unfair 20:00 game and you HAVE to keep lol running. you have to enter queue(leaving for even a moment restarts the timer, that includes if one person in your premade doesn't accept by accident)and wait. for 20 minutes. and who knows if your going to get a match you do good in and your opponents FF,making a more boring and short game,or your team does bad and has toxic players so you FF cause its an unfair and stressful experience, and even then your forced to wait for 20:00 to forfeit. The satisfaction is taken out when there 2 turrets down and forfeit. And don't give me that 'well then he shouldn't have played if something was going to happen' something can happen at any time,be it your internet going out,a phone call or power going out...and just a ping spike. DCing and reconnecting seconds later can count as a DC for leavebuster which is one of the reasons both me and my friend got leavebuster at some point. I understand it being a punishment for leaving,as leaving ruins the games for others but almost 2 hours for DCing once or having to do something, then getting reported by your verbally abusing ping spamming teammate who doesn't get banned afterwards cause only one person reported is just horrible and a pain to wait for,5 minutes I get,10 is a bit of a push but overall that's like 1 game missed but 20 and with lol running it lags other games you play is as I said, horrible.

It should be a stricter punishment in my opinion.

  1. The first time you leave a match you only get a warning, no penalty. Penalties only increase for continuing to leave more games, so to get a 20 minute LPQ it definitely wasn't caused by "leaving 1 match".
  2. Leaver Buster works independently of reports. You will be flagged as afk/leaving for being inactive/absent and punished whether people report it or not. Reporting AFK is pretty much for people trying to trick the system so Riot can track their behavior even if it's too subtle for the system to notice.
  3. Mute people that are verbally abusive. There's no reason to listen to it if it's bothering you. If they are like that on a regular basis and your reports are accurate they'll have their own punishment waiting for them, so don't worry about that just do your best in the match at hand. Ping spamming isn't so easily avoided, but it's still punishable behavior so be sure to report it.
  4. If you are having technical issues, such as lag spikes or client crashes, please post over on the Help & Support board and they will do what they can to help you out.

you should ask your friend how many games he left / AFKed (clicking around the fountain counts as AFK) before he got that punishment.
