I have an idea to cull the flame baiting antics.

I've started to see another rise in flame baiting, if you don't know what that is. It's basically when someone goads you into an argument or a fight in the hopes they can report you.

Like someone spamming your items, when you die or when comparing you to the enemy. Also pushing you into a fight with them with stupid phrases such as telling your you're inting you suck etc etc.

What if and this is a big if, what if when you report someone it flags you in the system for that game aswell? So I can no longer flame you into a fight with me in the hopes of reporting you out of spite. Muting is an option yes but this would make people think twice before goading someone into a fight.

i started a topic about something similar yesterday as of now there are no official responses yet and people just tunnel on the "you said that you deserved it" argument

i feel like this case is monitored by riot as people don't just get banned over arguments or such cases as much as one would expect that would be interesting if once you report someone you report yourself too but that might just make people stop reporting and then the toxicity level will go through the roof

because if you ever said something potentially incriminating you wouldn't want to report someone that was throwing up racial slurs all game

Strictly speaking, they're allowed to, so long as they're not over-obvious in how they're trying to bait you into flaming them in chat. That can still be construed as harassment, but it would probably only net them a chat ban, if that.

I honestly don't get why people do this, though half the time I suspect it's because they're salty about something from a previous game where you were on the enemy team. The rest of the time it's an insecure player.

So if you have the self control to not flame back, why not just report them?

Their reports don't do anything to you if you did nothing wrong, but your report will count against them and be part of their punishment when they do it too often.
