Smurfing is a big problem in league.

There are two types of smurfing. One is creating a new account and then ranking it up. This one is fine and does not do a lot of harm. The other one is purposefully losing a lot of matches so that you can reach bronze. And then rank up and smash new players. Some players who have reached plat and diamond, will have a win rate of <40%. The usually achieve this by playing wrong champs in the wrong role. For example jg janna, vayne jg etc. They achieve such low winrate by purposefully losing games. This needs to be fixed. A plat player has no buisenss in bronze or silver. This is just abusing the damn system

Smurfing is a fact of multiplayer gaming. You can't stop it. Even a pay barrier wouldn't stop it.

I assume that some people are just trying to have fun with the game at this point. The higher you climb in elo, the more you have to play seriously, be careful about cs, decisions, etc. The game becomes stressful. Playing against weaker players and smashing them is a way for them to ''return'' to the old days of being a careless noob and not being concerned with the game so much. Really i can't blame them, it must feel nice to smash 95% of your lanes and just f*ck around for the rest of the game.

Others do that to boost their ego tho...

Whenever i'm in a game i know is guaranteed to be a loss, if i resist the urge to rage, i admit that even me will like do f*ck around. Like i'll start trying to execute myself in their fountain, racing other teammates to it. Or just dance with the enemy. The game is already lost so no point in trying anymore.

But yeah it sucks when players with different mindset meet. Everyone wants to win, most want to have fun, and winning is not the only way to have fun.

When you allow people, regardless of whether they were banned or not, to make new accounts for free, you get smurfs.

I think the best way to combat smurfing would be to allow it in normals, but not in ranked. And require a phone number for ranked games
