wow, i really expected better reasoning. these are not good reasons. i can already shoot them down immediately.
One, many offenders that get thrown into Prisoner's Island don't believe they belong there and look around them thinking "wow everyone else is so much worse than me why am I in here".
Oh yeah that isn't a daily thread topic. Oh, wait, it is. every. single. fucking. day. Someone says this. "Y U PERMABAN ME 4 DEFEDNING MYSELF?!?!!?" This already happens. Every. Day.
Two, many offenders end up creating a new account because it's extremely difficult for nuanced behaviors like verbal abuse to improve in a Prisoner's Island scenario; after all, placing 10 volatile players highly vulnerable to toxic triggers or highly prone to initiative toxic behaviors means that no one is reforming or improving over time.
People already make new accounts when you ban them. and ffs, don't you think that maybe people will.. .uhhh... make new accounts MORE OFTEN when you PERMANENTLY BAN THEM then when they have an account they can actually play? that's so illogical. That's the opposite of logic. Of course people are going to make more new accounts if you permanently ban them vs. letting them still play. Duh. Also, I'm guessing Riot's never heard of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aversion_therapy
They are wrong that no one is going to reform or improve. People reform and improve all the time when constantly, endlessly exposed to the exact same brand of their own problems, not only from aversion therapy but also just being around those people. Have you ever heard of Narcotics Anonymous? Riot has no idea what they are talking about and they REALLY need to take a class on human psych 101.
