I would like to detail my first five games in Diamond

tl;dr: Diamond sucks and you're not missing out.

To pretext, I've been around gold rank for about three seasons now. It has only been this season that I shot into plat before finally just kinda stumbling into Diamond. I had already heard the stories of the wasteland that is Diamond 4, so I tried to temper my expectations. But oh boy, is it a mess so far.

Game One - Win: Enemy team has such a wonky team comp it feels like some sort of parody. Some of them may be otp's like me, but to see a blue Kayn against a scaling, beefy and hard denial comp makes me wonder if some of their players where here by accident. But nah, the only Platinum in our game was a Plat 1 Kassadin on our team that went 18-0. Lots of allchat toxicity from the enemy team

Game Two - Win: Filled as support, (Poppy support is only OK btw) won by getting carried by a Fiddle who knew how to ult. Would have expected teams to immediately recognize the importance of vision vs a Fiddle at this elo, but oh well. Mostly normal game aside from more toxicity of course.

Game Three - Loss: Blew an early game but figured we would be fine late game. Alas it would not be so as our Mid and ADC bullied eachother out of the game, literally. Double RQ, which I haven't had since probably last season. Can't even remember what they where fighting about, as the game was pretty much the definition of "winnable". Decided to stomach it and move on.

Game Four - Loss: Most toxicity I had to stomach so far. Played Mord and had a definitively sub optimal ult vs an Ahri. Try to think "shit, wll better learn from that one." but can't really hear my own thoughts from the incessant screaming from my jg for the rest of the game. You would almost assume my Sejuani genuinely thought that every missed CS and skillshot from the entire team was all consequence of me messing up my ult once. Of course thankfully Sejuani was literally a perfect player and had every right to be inflammatory as she had made no mistakes and therefore could indeed be one to talk about missing skillshots. Sarcasm, of course.

Game Five - Loss: Just got out of this one, thankfully it didn't last long as our entire bot lane RQ at about 5 minutes, another double. Not sure why, we had a bad invade to start but the map was relatively even until then from what I saw. Of course our Kai'sa was already flamming our Lux support in the lobby for taking barrier so I imagine she was rather shortsighted in the heat of the moment. I actually don't blame Lux too much for leaving and I hope she doesn't get punished for that specific instance. She stayed calm from what I saw and only left when our ADC left.

And that's the five games. Why am I making this topic? Because I haven't had this pathetic of a string of games since I was hardstuck silver, and so I need to make something clear. If you are stuck plat and are getting frustrated trying to get to Diamond, don't bother. Climb as high as you would like, I can just say definitively from only five games that Diamond is not worth any hair pulling. I imagine Diamond 3-1 is far better, but Diamond 4 simply isn't worth it. The consensus is in, and it is an absolute fact that the vast majority of Diamond players will not be leaving Diamond 4. Don't tell yourself "if I can get to Diamond I can climb through Diamond" unless you are already at a high Diamond MMR. I will likely only be coming to ranked on occasion as I have no interest in this absolutely pathetic excuse for high elo. This is supposed to be the best of the best, a representation of the values high level play stands for. It's not, it's a toxic cesspool of hateful animals who are all individually the best players they can think of.

There is nothing commendable here, nothing to write home about. This Elo is am embarrassment and I can only think of how it won't change. I'm not the most unlucky player ever, where in only my games will I get a double RQ twice in five games. That is consistent patterned behavior, and the fact that it happened to me this late in the season lets me know that those players will not get punished, will not be prevented from playing games, will stay in Diamond 4, and will not improve. As a personal opinion I would expect the players who quit to be outright barred from Diamond for the rest of the season, though I am not a balance expert and may just be talking out of my ass. Regardless, four out of five of my games where absolutely terrible in an Elo that should represent professionalism. Yes I include the games I won. I wasn't on the receiving end of game ending toxicity or player behavior, but I know my opponents where. I know there where players on the enemy team who played from start to finish with genuine intention to try their best, but couldn't because of outright childish and unacceptable behavior from players who won't see repercussions for it. It really is unfortunate this is the state I will be leaving my ranked climb, but in all honesty a player wouldn't need to read blog posts like this to know ahead of time. It was obvious it was this bad from the start.

This Elo is am embarrassment

it's no longer top 1% of the player base too many boosted players too many people that no longer care as masters is way bigger step from diamond than plat is from diamond

literally filled with smurfs playing their warmups, boosters, and boosted players the skill discrepancy is too high between the average diamond players

There is a reason people always typed D5 OMEGALUL (which is now D4 OMEGALUL )

Here's a story: I'm trying to get my alt to g4 (just like i did with my main). My "skills" vary from bronze 6 to diamond 4. So, I'm doing my 10 games, and i keep fighting gold enemies (just like what happened on my main). And at the end of the last of the 10 games, i win. And I finally see the league i got put in (silver 1, same as main).

And I go 0.0 Then I check op.gg out of curiosity and.. surprise surprise, most teams (mine and enemy team) is gold 3-plat 2, while I'm "silver 1". I eventually got to g4 (skipping the promos from s1 to g4, however that happened lol) today, but I had to defeat multiple high gold to low plat players to get from silver to gold.

To be fair, if I actually try, I can perform at that level (tho usually i don't like thinking, so i go in at almost every single opportunity, even in bad cases) but damm, I can understand the frustration people are having these days. Like I wasn't frustrated that I had to play against high gold to plat players to get out of silver. Since I know my own skill level should be around that especially now since the elo brackets have shifted and what used to be plat 3, is now like plat 1 to diamond 4. But since people got better over the years, i figured high gold to low plat should be easy to achieve.

But now if I were to put myself in the shoes of other people. Like, lets say you are a low gold in terms of skills, and you're trying to climb out of silver to get where you deserve (gold)....... and your enemies are gold 1,2 plat 4,3. Like wtf do you do? hope to get carried every game?

idk, maybe after 100 games the rank position is given more accurately, but at least at the start, is a hot mess. Giving ranks lower than what the skill level of the one getting it is.

However at least, the match making was sort of accurate. In a way since I was fighting people of around my skill level (some games i feed, some games i do well, one or two i carried).

And the hardest game was vs a leblank that someone in my team said he's a smurf at the start, so, i actually took that game seriously. But it was super hard, even tho I was quite feed and had 3k gold advantage overall. I didn't feel like I could crush the enemy team as usual. While watching the end game screen stats i see the enemy leblank (that was 3k behind) having dealt like 2k less damage than me (diana player)..

My conclusion: The playerbase got better. Junglers still have a heavy influence on how the games are played (in most games it felt like the 'better jungler' won, only in 1 or 2 my jungler was better and we lost). The match making is mostly accurate. The position you are in, doesn't seem to be accurate unless you got a large number of games. And ofc, with how much riot encourages negative behavior (like the recent nb3 were riot are perfectly fine with him afk-ing, flaming and inting), there's "toxic behavior" of heights never seen before.

PS: another reason to not get high elo is so that streamers don't get pissed at you and then call their riot friend to ban you we are safer in gold, plat and below :)

Just played my first 3 games in Diamond today:

First one just ok with a little grief from our top constantly going in 1v5, but probably just a bad game i hope; Second one, guy goes Ahri top dies to a Udyr gank and uses tp on the creep the udyr and Kled were killing in the middle of the lane, dies again and ragequits; third one starts really good and we kill al lanes in the first 5 minutes. After that the nightmare begun as the transferred players Ez/Yuumi proceed to overextend all mid/late game making the game almost unwinnable. We were lucky both solo lanes were good and the enemy threw the game.

At this point i’d Rather have stayed platinum where I had better teammates and enemies with much better mental and macro

I would also recommend to not try to climb on saturday/sunday, the amount of trolls in those 2 days is just out of control. My first queue guy picked blitz top because support didn’t give role but luckily someone dodged

Stuck in diamond since season 3. Sometime it's not that bad. I really do enjoy games.

Most of the time people are beyond toxic and beyond reasoning.

Weird stuffs like ''please consider uninstall your game''. But then diamond is the top 2-3% of all players so i'm like, what ? I stopped reasoning with since 2013

I feel your pain. I've been in low platinum for the last three seasons, and it's pretty disgusting what behavior people consider acceptable, and what Riot makes de-facto acceptable by not punishing. The proportion of people who ragequit from the game who actually get punished is abysmal, and there's at least one toxic player almost every game. If I'm lucky, that player is on the enemy team and only types in the team chat. The ragequitter part is especially frustrating, both because of how devastating it is to a game, and because of how easy you'd think it would be for Riot to verify those reports.

Honestly. Whenever i see high plats and anyone in diamond in normal games they always flame their team for being silver. But at the same time their always losing the games for us by rage splitting bot alone as an adc or inting as a ludens echo alistar top.
