My main account was perma-banned (this account), and since I've thought about it a lot.

I get it, it's a wall of text and it's not pretty. Already being on a 14 day ban clearly I'm playing with fire, and Im not asking for my account back, but I do have something to say.

Firstly, although this is a lot of text, if the entire chat log was saved, it wouldn't seem so stark. My teammates as well as the opposing team were both chiming in on the situation, as is evident with me clearly replying with other players in the match.

Secondly, although this is a wall of text, any player in the match who does not want to participate in the chat has the freedom to mute me, I have all chat enabled and am using it, if anyone does not want to be apart of it, they are welcome to mute me, and if they haven't can I infer they are then choosing to participate?

This brings me to my greater point, which is that despite me now having my account gone, those others who did participate in that chat are still free to roam the game. Hop into a game yourself and I'd bet within 3 games you'd find a situation similar to this. Chat in itself caters to toxicity in an environment like League, and although many of us have the capacity to manage our frustrations without abusing chat, to others it's an opportunity to vent without actually trolling the game. Okay so how do we deal with players who play the game properly, but don't have the discipline to not chat? Disable their chat permanently until they receive enough honors to recover it. These players (including myself) aren't wanting to troll/ruin games, but are simply frustrated that they themselves feel like they're being cheated out of a game, so they resort to the chat to vent. If they didn't have the chat, they might have a second to cooldown. It's like a smoker, if they're frustrated and have cigarettes, they'll smoke, but if they don't have cigarettes, they'll have to deal with it. Would this solution work? I really can't say, but as a committed player who has had honor 5 before, it's really eating away at me that all my time and effort is just. .gone.

Honestly it's really hard to say good-bye to this account. I know it's deserving, and I can't change it, but if I was wintrading, or deliberately inting, or doing anything else far worse than spamming chat it would be easier to accept. But now in my mind all I can think is 'What if I just got off before that game?'.

Yeah, others could have muted you; but know what? You could have muted them too and not even had to deal with the situation. Maybe they are playing still, but if you reported them then maybe they got a punishment. They are on their own punishment tracks, so it could have been a Chat Restriction.

Simply taking away someones chat after they have been punished x times doesn't necessarily work. Some may statt using gameplay toxicity instead which is harder to confirm.

Riot does not care about the "context". Nor the "entire log". Nor what other players were doing. Sounds harsh, right?

Well, the community sets the rules. Riot originally based the machine learning system on thousands of chat logs that were voted by the community as toxic behavior. And you know what the system learned? The system independently learned that players did not consider context important in voting on logs. Put another way, if you were to show the same "borderline" chat logs in two cases, one of which had "context" (ex: teammates flaming, someone clearly inting, whatever), players tended to vote the same.

Secondly, although this is a wall of text, any player in the match who does not want to participate in the chat has the freedom to mute me, I have all chat enabled and am using it, if anyone does not want to be apart of it, they are welcome to mute me, and if they haven't can I infer they are then choosing to participate?

The mute button is a defense for them, yes. However, you are doing what is called "victim blaming". That is like saying "well, if she didn't want to be raped, she shouldn't have worn the clothes she did and gotten drunk". Or like saying "well, if the person wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest and you shoot at them, it's their fault they died". It sounds absurd, right? They shouldn't have to mute you to avoid your rule violations. They should have to mute you if you're not violating the rules and they just don't like what you're saying or whatever.

This brings me to my greater point, which is that despite me now having my account gone, those others who did participate in that chat are still free to roam the game. Hop into a game yourself and I'd bet within 3 games you'd find a situation similar to this.

Not really. In fact, toxicity breeds toxicity. One of the reasons you're seeing so much toxicity in your games is because you are being toxic.

Chat in itself caters to toxicity in an environment like League, and although many of us have the capacity to manage our frustrations without abusing chat, to others it's an opportunity to vent without actually trolling the game.

And this is exactly why Riot permanently bans you - so you don't have the chance to start trolling the game.

These players (including myself) aren't wanting to troll/ruin games

But... you literally said that people either manage their frustration without abusing chat, or, it's an opportunity to vent instead of trolling the game. Well, you didn't manage your frustration without abusing chat, so you must fall under the second group, right? You don't need to answer this - your posts have made clear that you wish to (or maybe already do) grief your teammates slightly in games when you're mad at them.

Honestly it's really hard to say good-bye to this account. I know it's deserving, and I can't change it, but if I was wintrading, or deliberately inting, or doing anything else far worse than spamming chat it would be easier to accept. I mean, a speeding ticket is what, a couple hundred bucks fine? If you keep getting them though, your license will be taken away and you may even go to jail. Whereas if you, eh, do grand theft auto or some shit, you're going to jail immediately.

The point here is that you may not have done the grand theft auto, but you kept getting speeding tickets and didn't improve your behavior.
